We are very disappointed—even devastated—that Jason was dissatisfied with the cleanliness of our place. He is the first guest of more than 37 in two years to complain about that. In fact, we have a 4.9 star rating. We have the place professionally cleaned after each guest leaves. Sheets, bath towels, kitchen towels, and placemats are all laundered after each stay. The stove was clean. The refrigerator was clean but did have minor food items—condiments, eggs, stuff like that—that previous guests had left. Rather than waste food, we left these things there. We admit that we didn’t check all utensils, but in the future we will. There was no dirt all over the cabin, but perhaps there were dusty spots the cleaning person failed to clean. That won’t happen again, either. As for cobwebs, yes, alas, a few days passed between the cleaning and Jason’s arrival, and inevitably new cobwebs appeared. In the future we will make a last-minute review of the cabin before guests arrive. As for bugs, yes, a few are inevitable due to the rural location beside a stream, but it certainly isn’t a general problem. We are not going to douse the place with insecticide to prevent a few forest bugs from flying in.
In conclusion, a) we are very sorry Jason was uncomfortable here and wish we had known before he left, b) we will make a better effort to look for dust, c) we will make a last-minute search for cobwebs, and d) guests do NOT have to bring clean sheets or bug spray. And we would like to add that if guests have ANY problem while they are here, they should tell us immediately. We live 200’ away and will always make immediate efforts to correct any problems.
