The private Ranch "Bunkhouse" sits on a meadow near the horse paddocks & barn w/ views of valley, mountains, & access to gorgeous woodsy hiking trails.

It's an up-dated large (20X40) open studio/bedroom w/ kitchenette & private bathroom (clawfoot shower/tub). A king-sized bed & an extra twin canopy bed if you have a 3rd traveling with you all in one room.

The "Bunkhouse" retains the rustic charm of the original ranch Bunkhouse but inside it enjoys a bit of new country comfort style.

The ranch is located 2 1/2 miles (west) outside of the little town of Prospect, near the Rogue River, Lost Creek Lake, and a couple of miles from the beautiful Barr Creek, Mill Creek and Pearsony Falls, and 28 miles to the Crater Lake National Park south entrance. It's on the beautiful scenic side of Crater Lake National Park along the Rogue-Umpqua Scenic Byway.

The Bunkhouse is a tranquil and comfy retreat after a day of Southern Oregon recreation. Perfect for solos, couples or with a plus one.

Also on the ranch is the horse barn, owner's home, a vacation rental house, and out-buildings, 2 large ponds, and loads of trails (100 acres plus) to explore and wildlife to view.

Adgang for gæster

The bunkhouse is a wonderful place to stay. It provided a lot of privacy and is a short'ish drive away from Crater Lake. If staying there, make sure you try Beckie's Cafe down the road. It has some of the largest cinnabons you will ever see!

For city dwellers, a stay at the Bunkhouse is a trip to very rural “ranch” country, high in the Cascade mountains, about an hour east from Oregon’s I-5, but close to the remote Crater Lake National Park. We found the Bunkhouse to be EXACTLY as described; there were no surprises. The Bunkhouse is an extremely large single room with a comfortable king bed, a separate twin bed in the same room, a convenient kitchen with full stove and a small fridge, and a couple of recliner chairs around a small table. The walls and ceilings are all knotty pine, the floor also wood. A large dining table doubles as an all-purpose workspace. An extraordinarily large bathroom features a huge clawfoot tub/shower, double sinks, and on-demand hot water, which works very well. There is an electric heater in the bathroom, and a high-mounted heater/air conditioner in the main room. If you plan to prepare meals at the Bunkhouse, bring your own groceries (Canyonville or Medford, each more than an hour from the Bunkhouse in opposite directions, are the closest good places to stock up). Outside, the Bunkhouse is adjacent to a horse corral and a bright sunny meadow. It is clustered among a barn and a modern home (separately available as an AirBnB rental), and there are some walking trails right on the property. Access from the main road (Oregon 62, a wide, two-lane paved road leading from I-5 to Crater Lake and beyond to Klamath Falls) is via unpaved “Katydid Road” (which Garmin GPS identifies as "Bald Mountain Road"). We were glad to have detailed directions from Barbara as we navigated to the Bunkhouse the first time. And, returning after dark from our explorations, we were very glad the small, green-and-white “Katydid” sign at Rt. 62 is reflective! The location of this facility is notable for its remoteness. Neither Verizon nor T-Mobile cell service was available here (we discovered that’s very common throughout the Rogue-Umpqua River region of the Cascades). And although wifi internet service is available elsewhere on the ranch, there’s none at the Bunkhouse. It’s about as close to Crater Lake National Park as possible, outside the park, but driving to the Rim Village is still 45-minutes to an hour. The closest town (about 10 minutes) is Prospect, Oregon, which is home to Prospect Pizza and the Prospect Hotel. The only other eatery this far “up the mountain” is the locally-famous “Beckies” in Unionville, about a 30-minute drive from the Bunkhouse. We tried Beckies for dinner, and probably would not return, despite the homemade huckleberry pie. We felt better at Prospect Pizza, a small establishment serving a nice variety of pizza toppings… and delicious Tillamook ice cream. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring perhaps a dozen beautiful waterfall viewpoints from our base at the Bunkhouse; a couple of really nice ones are very close, in Prospect, but most others are 1-2 hours away, or more. For us, exploring Crater Lake was a one-day expedition. But hikers or bikers may wish...

Quiet, serene and lovely ranch property with horses and friendly dogs. The Bunkhouse was clean and inviting. Barbara was attentive and accommodating to some special needs we had. It is in a great location for Crater Lake, the beautiful Rogue River and lots of fantastic waterfalls.

Great hosts...our stay at the bunkhouse was our favorite airbnb thus far! It was beautiful, quiet and elegantly decorated, we didn't want to leave! Barbara's knowledge of the surrounding area was much appreciated and the hikes she suggested were outstanding! We highly recommend, there's nothing not to love! Chuck & Linda

We loved the Bunk House! The peace and comfort offered were perfect; the bed was great, the claw foot tub with tankless hot water was marvelous, and the space much larger than expected. We loved being outside, petting the sweet dogs or gazing at the stars. We'd definitely stay again.

My husband and I love living in the Crater Lake/Prospect area of the beautiful Cascades. Living on our ranch which we share with the wildlife, our horses, and dogs feels like paradise. It's great to be able to share it with our children, grandkids, and vacationer guests.
