Custom steel architectural home completed in 2013 Tom Marble, AIA architect. Influenced by great modern architects Rudolph Shindler and John Lautner. The house is steps away from Neutra Place - and some of the best architecture in Los Angeles.
Create a truly memorable & filmic experience by staying in this spectacular new architectural home perched on the hillside of Silver Lake. The camera flows through huge sliding glass doors onto decks overlooking the Silver Lake Reservoir with the Griffith Park Observatory and Hollywood Sign beyond. The camera gazes across the shimmering water to look through John Lautner's masterpiece home, Silvertop.
As the camera pans inside, you will see rooms designed by the architect, Tom Marble, who drew inspiration from both Frank Lloyd Wright and John Lautner’s use of hexagonal geometry to bring in light and create flow in multiple directions, inviting you into spaces both severe and surprising: with no right angles, this home dares to truly think outside the box.
The interior is a spectacular flowing space that belies its modest area of just 1100 square feet, with custom built-ins give the home a nautical feel, as if you are in a boat floating above the reservoir. And despite the steel structure, the spaces take on a more exotic flavor, aided by the Japanese decor, the king size bed floating on tatami mats, and a living room with comfortable pull out couch and TV.
Enchanted by the diamond-shaped master bath, the camera dissolves between a shower gleaming with golden tiles and a large bath with its own unobstructed view to Silver Lake. A jump-cut to the kitchen reveals a series of vignettes of stainless countertops and appliances, a Viking Stove, and a warm travertine peninsula atop Douglas Fir cabinets whose shape resonates with same hexagonal geometry.
The camera follows you out of the house, down the flowing steps to Silver Lake Reservoir itself, capturing perhaps a romantic walk to a coffee shop, restaurant, or bar; it follows you as you pass the dog park then stop by the meadow where you see athletes stretching, kids playing and flying kites, hipsters communing in circles.
This has to be one of the most beautiful places in Southern California.
Located 15 minutes from Hollywood, 45 minutes from LAX, 45 minutes to Santa Monica , and 15 minutes to downtown.
The LA times wrote an article about the house. If you (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) tattuplex you should find a link to the article.
Let this home become a breath-taking backdrop to the memorable narrative of your stay in Los Angeles.
