百 HAKU <100-year-old Quaint Japanese Style Villa>

HAKU is a Japanese Style Villa. You can enjoy your private time as in your home. “HAKU“ is one of the readings of the character “百” which means “hundred”. Medieval Haiku poet, Basho Matsuo likened eternal passage of time to "百代の過客", a permanent traveller. In his time, a hundred years was expressed as eternal. HAKU was originally built as a farmer’s shed about a hundred years ago. It was recently relocated and renovated for another hundred years. HAKU will welcome you as traveling companions.

Kusa no Niwa | 100-Year Machiya Lodge in Takayama

Kusa no Niwa is a traditional Japanese-style house with a courtyard and corridors that was built more than 130 years ago. The entire house with a size of 100 square meters will be lent privately to a single group with a maximum capacity of 6 persons. You will find a fusuma, a sliding door with a paper panel, painted by a famous Japanese Painter, which can be also found in the Taue’s House, an Important Cultural Property, located in Nyukawa Town.

築130年の古民家を、ホスト自ら時間をかけて丁寧に改装し、一棟貸しの宿としてよみがえらせました。年月を重ねた梁や柱、畳の寝室、囲炉裏や薪ストーブが、静かな温もりと落ち着きを宿に与えています。窓からは中央アルプスと四季折々の山里の景色が広がり、夜には満天の星が浮かび上がります。屋外には薪で湯を沸かす五右衛門風呂があり、希望があれば体験も可能です。キッチンには調理器具や調味料を揃え、囲炉裏での食事もお楽しみいただけます。畑では季節の野菜や米を育てており、収穫の時期には新鮮な食材に触れることもできます。日常を離れ、何もしない時間すら心地よく感じられる、そんな大人の滞在のための場所です。
