I offer introductory lessons in throwing on the potters wheel. The class includes a full demonstration and then you will have fun throwing your own pots! The lesson can be one-to-one, or a party can be arranged. Pottery is fired and glazed on site and is ready for collection 4 weeks later, or can be posted to you. There are a number of options for tailor made classes and workshops. Classes are designed for beginners as well as the more experienced. The pottery garden is a safe space and you may want to feed the friendly hens too! Other things to note Please wear comfortable cloths that you don’t mind getting dirty! Towels and washing facilities are available, but the stairs are steep to go to the loo. A very friendly Staffie dog called Izzy lives in site and will greet you as if she’s known you all her life!

  • Halnaker tree tunnel and windmill walk
Join me on a leisurely 4-mile walk (lasting 2 to 2.5 hours) through the beautiful Sussex countryside, into the South Downs National Park via an ancient hollow way following in the footsteps of Romans, commoners and a king fleeing for his life! We'll start our walk in a village just a ten-minute drive (20-minute by bus) north of Chichester, passing through vineyards, farmland and a beautiful tunnel of trees. After a short walk uphill, we'll see the restored windmill and have time to admire the 360° views of the Sussex countryside. The Isle of Wight can be seen from here on a clear day. Learn about Boxgrove Man, the oldest human remains ever found in England, a Neolithic settlement and see WWII radio direction-finding structures. Hear local folktales and learn a little Sussex dialect. Depending on the time of year, we may see a range of butterflies and birds, including buzzards and skylarks and, if we are very lucky, we may see some deer. Chichester is the nearest railway station. There is a regular bus service from there to the meeting point. Other things to note: This is an easy walk but it is not suitable for anyone with mobility difficulties due to several stiles on the route. The route can be very muddy after rain. Alternative times/and dates are possible on request. There are no public toilets in the village. Parking is available at the meeting point.
