A quick 20-minute drive to Butternut or Catamount ski hills, as well as downtown Great Barrington. Tanglewood and Jacob's Pillow are a half-hour's drive. Or stay at home and enjoy the peace and quiet of the surrounding woods, light a fire in the woodstove, cook in the large fully-equipped kitchen or head out back to barbecue on the large deck and play a game of badminton in the yard.

The house is in the heart of the Berkshires and central to just about everything. It is a a short drive to Tanglewood, the Berkshire Theater Festival, Jacobs Pillow and the Berkshire Outlet Mall. Golf, tennis, skiing, swimming, and spas are just minutes away. It is a perfect spot for relaxation, culture, sports, a girls weekend, and family gatherings.

Our private cottage is set on a peninsula at a cove where a trout stream enters the lake. There is an incredible amount of wildlife, especially all types of birds. Sunny views abound. The house boasts a bright wood interior with a cozy feel. It has two and a half baths. There is a first floor queen bedroom with cathedral ceiling, and on the 2nd floor another queen room and a twin room-2 single beds.The adjacent lake teams with wildlife, seasonal weeds do grow. Sunny and open writing studio with over 150 years of literary history. Built in 1870, this lovely little house was where George Curtis edited Harper's magazine, wrote essays on transcendentalism , and argued for women's suffrage ( A recent guest informs me that George Curtis helped Thoreau build his cabin on Walden Pond ) The house has since sheltered painters, librarians, and poets.
