This beautiful rustic single storey traditional 18th century cottage, built from local pink sandstone, was bought by my father in 1986. I've been going there since I was 7 years old. It's in an isolated tranquil location with beautiful views of the Lowther Hills, and a ruined castle and loch a 10 minute walk away. A great area for walking, cycling, fishing, bird watching etc. It has a separate office with hill views, bike storage, open fire, and recently refurbished kitchen and bathroom.

NB: The barns opposite have recently been purchased and will be restored in due course, so daytime building works are possible. Our Bothy is a beautifully restored one-bedroom cosy and welcoming retreat in a peaceful setting, surrounded by an acre of meadow and hills. Just over a mile from the ducal village of Thornhill’s shops, cafés and pubs. Full of original character, it is an immaculate, fully equipped and comfortable base for relaxing, walking and exploring scenic Dumfries and Galloway.

The Steading Cottage

The Steading Cottage at Holmhill was once the stables and groom’s quarters to the elegant Georgian main house built by the Drumlanrig Castle Estate. It offers a cosy and beautifully appointed country retreat with breathtaking views over the beautiful Nith Valley and surrounding farmland, renown for its walks, wildlife and fishing. Shepherd's hut, set in our garden with views across the open countryside. There is electricity in the hut, which allows for an electric room heater, a microwave, small warm water sink, kettle and toaster. Please note cooking is by microwave and there is no shower. There is a compost toilet adjoining the hut. You can walk and cycle from the door into beautiful rolling hills and forest tracks,. There is a EV point available for a charge.
