Det skal I lave

We will explore the most storied sites in Harlem's rich history of Social Justice. We'll learn about the urban civil rights struggle and how it relates to the Civil Rights struggle led by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. focusing on some of the key institutions in Harlem. We'll begin at the National Action Network's headquarters, then head to the Audubon Ballroom, now called the Shabazz Center, the building where Malcolm X was assassinated. We'll also stop at the Abysissinian Baptist Church, the Schomburg Center for black culture, the famous Apollo Theater, and we'll finish at Tanaan Baptist Church. From beginning to end guests will experience first hand the current vibrancy of the present day movement to the palpable past of the turbulent 50's and 60's.

Kirsten John

I am a civil rights activist and history buff. I believe that we must celebrate our history in order that we may continue the pursuit of equal protection under law. Harlem has established itself as the social, cultural and political capital of Black America both past and present. We must share this mantle with the world.
