The house is 10 minutes from the airport, and 5-10 minute drive to the convention center and other downtown venues. The Neighborhood is a gentrifying and eclectic.
  • Josh's historic home is an absolute gem- perfectly decorated and furnished and full of charm! The space was huge and provided lots of privacy. Josh was a fantastic host- very hospitable!

  • This apartment is even more beautiful in person than it looks on the site, and the house is yet more stunning! Check-in was a breeze, everything was sparkling clean, and the neighborhood is a great mix of classic and funky. Josh was kind enough to let me check in early, which really helped my travel schedule. Value can't be beat. Would recommend to any traveler to the area!

Our home is a three-bedroom, two bath with hardwood floors, LOTS of natural light and LOTS and LOTS of character. Your private studio apartment on the 3rd floor of our home is a great space in a wonderful location (easy access to all of Louisville but in the charm of Old Lou). There is a full size bed tucked into a nook to provide you with sleeping comfort while the rest of the apartment is bright and light. There is a complete kitchen with all of the necessary cooking utensils, a claw foot tub in the spacious bathroom and a couch that folds out into a bed that could accommodate another person.
The indoor staircase leads you from the front porch to your Louisville getaway. You can relax on the couch and watch tv (local HD channels and Netflix), take a relaxing bubble bath in the claw foot tub, look at downtown from the front windows, cook a meal in the full kitchen, catch up on reading in the cozy bed, hang out on the front porch to enjoy a cocktail or, if you must, get some work done from the comfort of the table/desk. We have all you need here in the studio! The hardwood floors are smooth and clean, the rugs are collected from around the world. There are glassware options so you can pour your drink just so, and if you forget your shampoo there’s some on hand. Anticipating your needs is what motivates me...try me!
Old Louisville is the largest collection of Victorian homes in the United States. The architecture is phenomenal and the people are interesting. There is an eclectic mix in Old Lou and we hope that you can walk around and appreciate what once was and what is. Just blocks from Central Park, St James Court and some local eateries, you can stay in our neighborhood the entire trip or venture to other parts of Louisville as you wish. From here all of Louisville is within reach, but we’re especially close to Downtown and UoL and you can even take a free bus to get to either.
  • Great value, clean place and helpful hosts!

    Liam2019-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Convenient to all areas of Louisville. Took a tour of a wonderful Victorian Era neighborhood around the corner. The 3rd floor loft space is cute and comfortable with all expected amenities and then some like Netflix/Amazon Prime video access. We received some homemade bourbon chocolate balls from the owners as a little treat, and man were they tasty! A fine place to stay for a single night or multiple.

  • Amity's apartment is a wonderful home base to explore Louisville! We were in town for a conference, and it was an easy 25 minute walk to the conference center downtown. Lots of good restaurants and coffee shops nearby. The apartment itself is very cute and quite spacious for a studio. We found it easy to feed ourselves on the days we didn't want to eat out: the kitchen has a stove and oven, dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator, and Keurig coffee machine, as well as plates, cups, and silverware. The clawfoot tub in the bathroom is a sweet touch, too! Amity was very communicative and helped us make the most of our time in Louisville. I would certainly stay here again!

  • Great place and an awesome host!

    Gabriela2019-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • As a first time AirBnB stay, it exceeded my expectations. Amity, is a gracious host and the location and cleanliness of space was top notch. It’ll be hard to stay at another Airbnb with how high amity set the bar!

    Thomas2019-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • We were visiting for an event at Central Park, and this was the perfect location. The park was a short walk away and took us through a gorgeous neighborhood (incredible architecture!), and past several delicious restaurants (we loved the Jamaican restaurant, and though we never got a chance to try the African restaurant nearby, it also looked great). The unit we stayed in was very charming, with a bright, clean, and artsy aesthetic. It was the perfect size for me and my boyfriend. Amity has thoughtfully furnished it with the ample seating, table space, and essentials (scissors, first aid kit, a local newspaper with events listed, coffee, towels, etc.) and was very prompt in responding to any questions we had. It was a very lovely space, would recommend!

  • Great place! Very friendly and helpful host! Always responded to my messages!

    Mykenzie2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • The location is great a quick rideshare ride or free bus ride to downtown. The place was very clean and had everything we needed. I ran into Amity in the morning and had a quick conversation, she was very pleasant. I would definitely stay here again when in Louisville!

This is our neat and rather fab Victorian house near Central Park in Old Louisville, shared among a few young professionals. We're out of town often, so this is a great place for light & independent travelers. It's comfortable to hang out in, or use as a base to explore from. Note: this room is for rent for no less than 30 days at a time.
This is a room within our 130-year old house at the north end of Old Louisville, directly south of the downtown museum district, and few blocks north of Central Park (close to St James Court). The existing house is actually the remaining top two floors of the 3-story building, the 1st floor of which was converted to a bakery in 1922. The total living space is 2000 sqft. Our place is always undergoing some renovation, but it's 'mostly done,' and quite comfortable. We have a large, fenced back yard, and rooftop deck (best room in the house Spring through Fall). The guest room is private, small but with a 10' ceiling and full-size loft bed; it can accommodate two 'fit' people. The house is shared among several young professionals (in the art/design and culinary fields) with varying schedules; it is unlikely to see us all at the same time. We also have a feist (small dog, in our portraits) who is quite friendly. Nota Bene: we do our best to keep things tidy and put together, but this is our home, and we do have lives within and without -- not all is perfect. We welcome you into our home; please remember that it is that and not a hotel.
Old Louisville is the most densely populated and diverse neighborhood in Louisville. We have the most intact neighborhood of Victorian homes after New York City. Century-old trees and the park nearby make this a lovely place to walk around.
  • Stayed for 7 weeks while completing a clinical rotation. Jeff is a great host. Place is as described and a very unique experience.

  • Jef and Bess have a very cool place, and Bess gave me a great tour and was such an informative and sweet host. The location is great, right in Old Louisville, and any traveler coming through would be very happy staying near all the sights. I met the housemates, and they were also very nice, and the room is a cool little artist loft. I would certainly stay here again and recommend it to anyone coming through. Thanks Bess!

  • Thanks Jeff. Had a great time staying at this place. And want to give a special shout out to you for your hospitality as i had to come to Louisville urgently and you still managed to give fix up the place for me within a day. Thanks alot!

  • The place was amazing, exactly what we were needing for a relaxing place to stay during the Derby weekend. We didn't see our hosts at all but the roommates are very friendly. The room is so cozy and the apartment is so adorable and comfortable; we felt just like a home away from home.

    Christine2015-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • What a great weekend! Needed a place in Louisville to attend the Forecastle Festival and preferred something less hotel-y than the official affiliate hotels of the festival. So thrilled to have found Jeff and Bess's place in old Louisville. To be honest, we stayed busy with the festival and didn't spend a ton of time there, but were very satisfied with the house. The great deck was an especially nice place for having breakfast or a nightcap. Jeff was very helpful and accommodating and the roommates were great, too. We appreciate you all having us and will look at you again next time we are in Louisville.

  • I had a very pleasant and quiet stay at Jeff's place. Ben (I believe) who stays there long-term greeted me when I checked in and offered to get grocery items I may need. There was plenty of towels and shampoo products, and I definitely recommend staying here for several days or longer, peaceful and tidy place near downtown L'ville and other attractions.

  • Great value and just what I needed for a relaxing weekend after a long couple of days of work. Very cozy with a comfy bed. Close to great restaurants (I went to Buck’s for dinner Saturday night then North Lime the next day for coffee and donut - loved both places). Central Park is just down the street, too - a nice place to sit and read or go for a short walk. I would stay at Josh’s place again!

  • Josh & his lovely Eclectic Carriage House embody the best of airbnb. Josh is warm & friendly and has obviously put a great deal of thought & work into the Carriage House. It has literally everything you could need & truly is a fully-stocked, clean, beautiful & cozy apartment: privacy, comfy bed & plush chair with ottoman, sofa/day bed, full kitchen w/ appliances, everything for a pot of tea, kitchen table, couple of bar chairs at counter, writing desk & chair, pretty courtyard, peaceful neighborhood with restaurants close by, keyless entry, etc. The space was a great value & simply perfect for my husband & me. We highly recommend it & will return as often as we can. Thank you, Josh!

  • This was by far the best Airbnb I have stayed at. The host have created a wonderful space that is full of home touches. It’s roomy, clean and a great space to escape to. • The space is decorated with antiques that match the feel of the historic district. The kitchen is fully updated and wonderful. I only wish that we were there for a longer stay... this is perfect for overnight or extended stays. The back garden is absolutely picturesque. Host communicates well and responds quickly.

The location was perfect as I was able to walk to the Palace theater in about 15 minutes! The bed and the pillows were the most comfortable I think I have ever slept on. Just perfect. • Louanne's place was exactly as described and depicted. Location was perfect for walking around the neighborhood (Central Park is a block away) or even to campus. We had a very comfortable stay for our family of three. It was the perfect size for us. Louanne introduced herself, made sure we had everything we needed and was always responsive via messaging. If we ever make it back to town we would definitely stay here again.

  • Luanne's place was great! super comfortable beds (the pullout bed is like an amazing nest), spotlessly clean, lots of little amenities like water, tea, hot chocolate, and snack bars... The bathroom is very private, a bonus when you're with a group. Nice tvs in both rooms, and a very warm and attentive but not at all overbearing host who is quick to respond with help about the area or any concerns about the house. I highly recommend it!

Our Carriage House is warm and inviting to guests from all over the world. We are located close to downtown, Central Park, University of Louisville and the Bardstown Road corridor. There are so many unique shops, restaurants, bars, and places to visit close by, and some are walkable in warmer weather. The Carriage House has just undergone a complete renovation from top to bottom - we hope you love it as much as we do! Don’t let the outside fool you - the inside of our home is the treasure!
You will understand the uniqueness of the space the minute you walk in the front door. Our 100 year old former carriage shop is perfectly imperfect! The concrete foundation and super high ceiling lead you up a few steps into a modern, full sized kitchen with 4-burner gas stove/oven and full size refrigerator/freezer for our longer stay guests. The fully refinished hardwoods and glass block window provide for a homey but modern feel. As a longtime chef and restaurateur, I understand the desire for some to cook, even when they get away, so we have tried to stock our kitchen accordingly. But should you require special kitchen items, just ask us ahead of time - chances are I have it for you to use! You will love how the kitchen flows into the main living space, with 16 foot tin ceiling; it's the perfect mesh of industrial and new. The living room has a brand new leather sleeper sofa that is ready to accommodate extra guests or kids traveling with their parents. We provided a new, flat screen 40 inch TV with Roku, but with so much to do around Louisville, you may not have time to turn it on. The master is bright and airy, with a regal queen sized bed and white sheer curtains that are, well, fit for a queen! The "water closet" is separate from the shower and tub area for extra privacy! Speaking of the shower, did we mention that it is a walk-in, all tile, dual head shower? Should you feel like relaxing and winding down your day with a bath, there is a refinished, original claw foot tub to soak in. This thing is huge! Please note, in addition to the 5 steps up into the carriage house, there are 3 steps up for the bathtub and shower access. Looking for another way to unwind? Well, stroll down the hall to our "Book Nook." We have two comfortable leather reading chairs and an entire bookshelf of classics and modern titles to choose from. From the book nook, you have access to our shared courtyard. It is there that you may be greeted by the two real masters of the property, Bronx and Manhattan. Bronx is our special dog who just turned 10 but it still going strong. He survived a cancer scare a few years ago and had his lower jaw removed, but as you will see, he is the happiest dog I have ever known. Manhattan, or Hattie, is the newest addition to our family of rescues. She is soft and gray, but oh so full of life. If you are a dog person, please come out and meet them; if not, that's okay too. Please note that although we are dog people, we cannot allow pets in the carriage house. This if for your pets safety and ours. We don't even let our own dogs in there! Our courtyard has a porch swing and gas grill, although with the changing of weather, there are leaves falling every day, so it is a very rustic space right now, but you are welcome to stroll around. Please note that we have a strict no smoking policy inside the carriage house. You are welcome to smoke on the deck, but please extinguish and dispose of of butts. You will hear a few planes land, church bells or even an occasional train. You’re downtown, it’s urban, soak it in. We have added blackout curtains for the three windows on the sleeping side and added vertical blinds over the super cool glass block windows. There is parking immediately in front of the entrance that is almost always (99% of time) for our guests and it is free at all times. There are never more than a handful of cars on the street here, so parking is always available. Don’t be fooled by the exterior. This home was a commercial operation years and years ago and we have kept that same look and charm. It is industrial and does not draw a lot of attention to itself in its surroundings. But step through that blue door and you WILL be amazed.
There are so many great restaurants and bars nearby. Churchill Downs, 4th Street Live and University of Louisville are a short Uber or Lyft away. Many local spots are walking distance, including Central Park. Always stick to roads and be aware of your surroundings. There are certainly some hot spots that you can walk to: a Rite Aid, a wine bar, a brewery, several restaurants, etc. The warmer the weather, the easier it is to access more places. But everything is a short drive or Lyft ride away as well.
  • Doug and Amanda's place exceeded expectations and they were great hosts! The space is large, definitely big enough for 2-4 people although I stayed solo. Cool bathroom with clawfoot tub and double shower; nice living space, office area, and bedroom; and small extra amenities like snacks and coffee. Neighborhood is as described, mostly safe but wander cautiously at night. I needed an iron which wasn't in the unit but they promptly brought me one to use. Overall, everything you would want out of an airbnb!

  • I would highly recommend staying at this house. We were very comfortable everything was clean. We were very close to the things that we were wanting to do while we were staying in Kentucky.

  • Very cozy

    Doug2018-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • This spot is definitely a nice peaceful spot to feel like you’re out of the city without actually being out of it. The outside does not do the inside any justice. They did a marvellous job creating a quirky and warm spot to stay. It IS in a very urban part of town so road noise is prevalent but not overly noticeable. We enjoyed the space very much!

    Lara2018-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Doug and Amanda's space is a gem. Beautiful historic apartment space with a super comfy bed. They were gracious and greeted us upon our arrival. Their dogs are the sweetest and super friendly. They were beautiful and welcome visitors. The location is super convenient to all things downtown and the highway as well. Look forward to staying with them again!

    Kyle2017-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • Without Doug and Amanda's outstanding hospitality, my families surprise vacation truly could not have taken place. They went above and beyond expectations, at a value I don't believe many others can match. Everything was as described and then some. I would very much like to return another time

    David2018-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • We felt at home and enjoyed our stay. If we return we would definitely request this spot again.

  • Excellent place to stay. Would recommend to anyone. Check in and check out were simple and easy. The space felt much bigger than anticipated. The well-appointed kitchen was perfect, and we enjoyed the seasonal decorations the host thoughtfully put up.

  • This was our second time staying with Laurie and Jim and once again, everything was great! Feels like home away from home! Definitely recommended if you're in Louisville!

    Isabel2016-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • We felt that this beautiful space and excellent location were almost wasted on us as we were only staying one night. We were welcomed in person and our hosts were super warm and helpful while still being pretty hands-off. We loved the property, the apartment, and the neighborhood and would definitely stay here again.

    Chelsea2015-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely attic space with decorative lights illuminating the path to the private entrance. So many thoughtful amenities. Quick $6.00 uber ride downtown or walk the mile. Comfy beds and everything was set up to make us feel welcome. Highly recommend

  • This is a great house for a large group! We loved how much space there was - enough beds and bathrooms for everyone to comfortably stay for a weekend. The kitchen was perfect, and had everything we needed. Check-in and check-out were very easy with a lockbox. Everything was clean and ready for us when we arrived and check-out procedures were minimal effort. We asked for a late check-out time, which was accommodated with no problem. Communication was very good and timely. Thanks so much for a great stay in Louisville!

  • My group was absolutely floored with this lovely home, nestled in a great neighborhood. An excellent, clean, and well furnished location at a steal of a price! We would highly recommend it!

    Mitchell2019-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice home - great opportunity to stay in a beautiful home built at the turn of the century. The detail and craftsmanship are amazing - from the fireplaces and high ceilings to the stairs and the detail of the trim - even the hinges on the doors are amazing! The house is really clean and comfortable!

    Karen2019-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • The house was clean and exactly as described. It was located on a good street with friendly neighbors; however the Victorian section of town is surrounded by a slightly less than desirable neighborhood. But for big city living this is to be expected, I guess.

  • What an amazing space! I rented William's space for my parents when they came to visit and it was a great experience! I went with them to check in and it was a simple set up and super user friendly. The house itself was even nicer than the pictures show! Such a beautiful home that's been furnished perfectly. All the amenities that you could ask for have been provided and the host even provided some excellent suggestions for local places to eat. I'll definitely been looking for William's place the next time my parents come to visit!

    Jon2019-07-08T00:00:00Z

  • Very cool location and space. Christopher met me personally and showed me around the house and the room. It almost feels like a grand, old hotel. This room in particular has a great birds-eye view of Old Louisville.. sit in the chair be the window and take in the city. I've never been given a clean, fresh bath mat before, that was a nice touch!

  • Herb was waiting for us when we arrived, very friendly with many good suggestions for local restaurants and museums. Good location for old town(my wife and sister in law walked to old town). We were in town for N.R.A. convention so easy access to highway to the expo center. Had a great weekend in Louisville.

    Phillip2016-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • Apartment was not clean. I would not stay there with children since the smoke detectors were not operable. Bed linens were very worn. Dust and cob webs every where , kitchen was dirty especially floor and dishes. Bathroom also was unacceptable. Definitely not what I had expected. Herb was very nice and hospitable. Location was good.

    Maureen2017-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you so much Herb. I have stayed in about 6 air Bnb places in my travels recently and yours was by far the most beautiful. It was truly a pleasure to stay in someplace that had such a beautiful old world charm. It will be my place of choice when I come back to Louisville

  • Herb was a really good host and was responsive and actively communicative throughout. The house is great and was really well set up for the 5 of us that were travelling. Great old place that definitely has loads of charm. It's less than 10 minutes from both the Bardstown area and Louisville downtown. Definitely recommend staying here.

  • Herb's place was a great home base for exploring Louisville! The Airbnb was clean, spacious, and exactly as advertised.

    Nick2017-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • Convenient location for our purposes and a cool old building. Well set up for guests at a good price. Nice back porch. Herb was wasy to reach and ready to help if we needed anything.

    Adam2015-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • Chris and Herb were great hosts. Chris responded very quickly to any request. He even loaned us his own waterproof windbreakers when it rained. The home is wonderful, decorated with an eclectic collection of antiques. It is very conveniently located near all of the NULU restaurants and shops. We were very comfortable and had everything we needed for a great stay. Would love to come back and visit soon.

***One of America's Coolest Airbnbs - USA Today *** Comfy, clean, stylish and private 3rd floor flat in our 1887 home near downtown & NuLu. Lots of love goes into making this the perfect home for your Derby City adventures. Vertigo has the boho vibe you'd expect from a national food & travel writer's space, and as avid travelers and one of Airbnb's top superhosts (120+ 5-star reviews in a row) we know the details that make for an amazing stay so look for super comfy furnishings + fun extras.
***Featured as part of Apartment Therapy's fall 2019 House Tour: A Sprawling 132-Year-Old Renovated Victorian Is Filled With All Our Favorite Details (And 8 Fireplaces)*** This is a lovely, sunny top floor flat overlooking your corner of Old Louisville, a historic, residential neighborhood that's a super quick drive to top restaurants and other Louisville adventures. It's a comfy, livable space designed by a lifestyle writer and feels immediately like home. Guests have called it enchanting, compared it to a Parisian atelier -- and have been known to book a return trip while they're still here. Please read the reviews (they're all five-star) because our guests say it best. You're staying in part of our home, not someone's 'investment property' (you know, original Airbnb) and we dreamed up Vertigo from scratch, inspired by our own wanderlust. You'll find treasures from our jaunts, and unique personality. It's more than a place to sleep; it becomes part of your memorable Louisville experience. As travelers ourselves (and we've lived up here for many weeks ourselves!), we've made sure you'll have what you need – from a sparkling clean bath stocked with plush towels and luscious amenities to a kitchen outfitted for people who love to cook. And while Louisville ordinance doesn't allow Airbnb hosts to provide food or drink, you'll get your first breakfast on us at a local cult-favorite doughnut shop. Also: personalized recommendations from your host, a writer for local and national outlets immersed in Louisville's dining and drinks culture. sᴛᴀʏ ᴀ ᴡʜɪʟᴇ *** Looking for a longer stay? We offer long stay discounts for a week or a month; just enter your dates to see the rate! *** ᴄʜᴇᴄᴋ ᴏᴜᴛ ᴏᴜʀ ᴏᴛʜᴇʀ ᴘʟᴀᴄᴇ *** Are your dates booked, or you want fewer stairs? Check out our sister property, Little Carriage House on the Alley! https://www.airbnb.com/h/littlecarriagehouse *** ALL the DETAILS Now then. With 738 square feet altogether, here's what to expect: sʟᴇᴇᴘ + ᴄʜɪʟʟ A roomy, light-filled living/bedroom has a super comfy queen sized Tuft & Needle bed and heirloom linens from Red Land Cotton, plus a big (SO comfy!) chaise sofa and chair and Roku TV. Original hardwood floors and exposed brick and rafters make for a warm and welcoming space. A funky old wardrobe (we picked up from our favorite restaurant when they closed) provides space for your things. *** ᴇᴀᴛ, ᴅʀɪɴᴋ, ʙᴇ ᴍᴇʀʀʏ A dining room that's open to the kitchen with a farmhouse-style table (that does double duty as a work desk). By the window is a vintage rolling bar cart with a Crosley record player and stack of vinyl and a small bar stocked with shaker, glasses, and such. #justaddbourbon *** ᴄᴏᴏᴋ A kitchen under the eaves complete with a vintage stove, ikea mini-sink, small retro-style fridge and microwave, toaster, coffee pot, and good quality cooking staples. There's a set of cookware and high quality, sharp knives, plus dishes and cutlery. We lived here while renovating our house, so you can be sure it's got what you need. *** ᴡᴀsʜ ᴜᴘ A bright, clean, bathroom with step-in shower and a cocktail ledge. Just kidding, it's a niche for shampoo, but hey, no judging if you like showerbeer. :) We provide delicious toiletries from Love, Beauty & Planet, and the good toilet paper and Kleenex because: #priorities. Also little extras like make up remover, cotton swabs, and lotion. A couple of fresh white robes, and your own slippers await for even more comfort. *** ʜᴀɴɢ ᴏᴜᴛ A small balcony that overlooks our courtyard (where you're also free to chill!) and the Carriage House along with neighboring homes and businesses, with downtown Louisville's skyline a mile away. Not for the vertiginous! *** ᴍᴜsᴛ ʟᴏᴠᴇ ᴅᴏɢs We have two dogs. You will hear them bark but we discourage extracurricular barking when we're home (and we're not the stay-out-late type;). Truffle is a senior Pomeranian and Cassius Thunderpaws (aka Cash) is Great Pyrenees/German Shepherd bundle of exuberant love who wants nothing more than to meet you. Both available for cuddles! Our Carriage House across the courtyard is also dog-friendly so you may see a traveling pup. >>Bringing your own puppers? Yay! We're big fans of dog people and we'd love for you to bring your dog (that's just ONE, please, and that's not negotiable). We may be able to lend you a crate and will provide a doggie welcome kit. BUT: we require you check *before* booking and tell me about your dog (don't worry, NO size limit or breed restriction!). I'll send you our house rules for pups and ask you to agree before proceeding with booking. But first, please know they MUST be able to climb the stairs; for your safety and your dog's, we CAN'T have guests carrying a squirming sentient being up the very steep steps. The stairs at the Carriage House are much less iffy, so please consider that if these will be a problem. *** ᴏʟᴅ ʜᴏᴜsᴇ ʟᴏᴠᴇ This old house was built in 1887. We worked really (really!) hard on renovating the space but it's not perfect, and that's not what we're after. We love the character of old houses, and if you do too, we'll get along just fine. ***** THERE WILL BE RULES We don't have a ton of rules but we mean business on all of them. This is our home and we've worked incredibly hard on it and ask that you respect it, as well as the neighborhood that supported us when we got our rental license. There's no smoking (of anything) in Vertigo, on the balcony, or in the courtyard – anywhere on the property, for that matter. We are so very strict on that! Smoking = leaving. Registered guests only, and we mean that too. You've been vetted by Airbnb and I'm sure your friends are lovely, but I don't know them, and this is our home, not a place for you to host a gathering. Yes, that means even for an hour. And hi, that means inside Vertigo and in our private courtyard too. Do note we have a Nest cam that captures comings and goings on the property. If you're traveling with a dog we require that you contact us to ask for and agree to the pet rules *before* booking. You'll find we're very chill so long as you observe these house rules. ***** Party of 3? Vertigo can be a three-guest space but because of the stairs we limit younger ones to ages 12 and up. The third person gets the comfy couch, which is in the same room as the bed. ***** WANT MORE? Still reading? Awesome! Come check out more pictures and Inspiration on Insta or f-b at Vertigo Louisville.
We're in Old Louisville, in a historic, urban, primarily residential neighborhood called Limerick that's walking distance to downtown (20-30 minutes, depending on where you're headed). The amazing St. James Court, and Central Park (free summer Shakespeare shows!) are a short walk away. This is the largest concentration of Victorian homes in the country, and is a historic preservation district. Basically, you can walk around and just ogle mansions to your heart's content. You're minutes by car from Louisville's amazing restaurants and bars, in the heart of a diverse residential area that's beginning to transform into a destination in its own right. What does our diversity mean for you? You'll likely see people with different life experiences and resources than you – as someone with discretionary travel money – will have. Here's a look at what we've got nearby (15 minutes or less on foot) >A great family-owned small craft beer brewery at dog-friendly and laid back Old Louisville Brewery >Crazy good doughnuts and excellent local coffee at the awesome North Lime shop (first breakfast there is free on us!:) >The fabulous Bar Vetti with cocktails and sumptuous Italian fare that the local restaurant critic calls Louisville's best food. >Six Ten Magnolia, the flagship restaurant from James Beard award winning Edward Lee (who you may have seen on Mind of a Chef or in the New York Times). And then all sorts of cool little nooks and crannies I can't wait to tell you about. Old Louisville isn't on the radar of many travel writers so you can really stumble across some cool off the beaten track places -- with the right guide ;)
  • This place was tip top...literally. We loved every little thing about Vertigo...from the eclectic decor to the comfortable bed. Dana and Brian are amazing hosts. They already thought of everything, so don’t think, just go.

  • I had a great stay at vertigo. My host was extremely pleasant, helpful, and easy to communicate with. The apartment was clean and pleasant. I especially appreciated the coffee and and small breakfast items. Thank you dana.

  • Dana is incredibly thoughtful and communicative - the perfect host. She went above and beyond to provide personalized suggestions - in addition to her already thorough guidebook to the city! The home is in a beautiful and safe neighborhood. There's plenty of free street parking, as well. We found it was about a $6 Lyft ride to the city. The home itself is so fun & comfortable - great character & stocked with anything you might need! I'm already looking forward to what opportunity will bring me back to Louisville - I'd love to stay here again! Highly recommended!

  • The only downside of my stay at Vertigo was that I didn’t have more time to spend there! Dana and Brian were the best hosts I could have asked for — sweet, accommodating and communicative — and their apartment was the perfect blend of charming, clean and cozy. I also loved the attention to detail; it was stocked with little amenities that people always end up needing, which you don’t typically see in AirBnBs. If I had to sum up the ambiance in a few words, I’d say it felt like a rustic French Country flat with Kentucky touches. :) I miss snuggling up in my PJs and sipping a mug of tea to the sound of bluegrass, and waking up to the sun rising over the church outside my window. (This is a weird thing to highlight, but I also loved the smell — almost like fresh laundry and wood.) A much needed escape, within close proximity of Louisville’s downtown area (it’s also only a couple hours’ drive to the Red River Gorge — a must for outdoor enthusiasts). I can’t wait to return. Thank you, Dana, Brian, Cash and Truffle!!!

    Gina2017-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • Be warned: if you stay in this beautiful, simply-yet-thoughtfully appointed metropolitan loft, you may find yourself wanting to stay inside more than you wanted to. Everything about this place is perfect, from the stylish and functional layout of the kitchen (enough to do a standing rib roast on Christmas night), to the plush comforts of the bedroom suite (sort of a combined living room/bedroom), and even to the smaller touches like the record player, complete with smooth instrumentals that seem to match in time to the raindrops on the roof on a wet December morning. If you’re more keen on seeing the outside world, Dana (and Brian, too) can give you myriad destinations to pique your interests, and insider information on seemingly everything going on in the greater Louisville area...and on top of that, they’re just damn nice people! When we eventually go back to Louisville to look for our new home (so says my husband), we wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else! Thank you Dana, Brian, Cash and Truffle, for such an amazing stay!

    Lisa2018-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Dana was the friendliest host we've ever used through ABNB. She regularly gave us updates and made sure we had everything we needed, as well as sharing some local knowledge. The room was filled with hidden gems, like board games and coloring books. All in all, it was a very pleasurable experience, and I would recommend to anyone!

    Nathan2017-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Place was awesome.... steps weren’t that bad from other reviews. Met Dana while waiting for my Uber! Super Nice!

    Ty2019-04-13T00:00:00Z
  • Vertigo was fantastic. I loved the cozy, nest-like quality of this place, and the hospitality and care that Dana provided (even though we didn't meet!) made me feel so welcome. This was much appreciated--especially arriving after hours of flight delays at 2:30 in the morning! Thank you again.

  • My mother and I had a lovely experience at Jeff and Linda's place. It was a short stay but not to be forgotten. Accommodations were better than expected, the area is very private and there is a kitchenette and heated floors in the bathroom! Easy conversation with Jeff and Linda, friendly dog as well. Will def book this place if I ever visit again.

    Ashley2017-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Jeff place is great place to stay , very stylish house , well decorated. total privacy jeff was very accommodating as my check in time was very late in night , they have lovely dog who is very well behaved. the best thing i like in this house is heated floor in bathroom. so soothing. overall it was nice experience.

  • Jeff & Linda are two of the warmest, kindest, most hospitable & most generous people I have ever met. Their house is GORGEOUS, very comfortable & extremely well located. Staying at Jeff & Linda's was a joy, truly, & made my trip to Louisville extra special. I HIGHLY recommend this accommodation folks. One of the best experience i've had thru AirBnB to date. Thanks Jeff & Linda! & see you next time!!!

    Ariel2017-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Jeff and Linda were really lovely hosts. Their house is beautiful -- a really nice renovation of a historic home in the historic "Old Louisville" district. So their house and the neighborhood are just gorgeous. They were really responsive and checkin/checkout were a breeze. They live in the house, and were very friendly and welcoming, but we were also completely able to come and go as we liked without feeling at all awkward. And the third floor was all ours, so it definitely felt like we had our own space. Everything was exactly how it looked in the pictures, and Jeff and Linda were just great hosts. You'll definitely be happy with your stay here.

    Kody2017-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you Jeff and Linda for your hospitality! Your place is very nice and we enjoyed our stay there. You made us feel very welcome.

    Alban2016-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • Jeff and Linda were amazing hosts. The place is right in the middle of everything, close to down town and all nearby attractions. Jeff was very accommodating about request to check in late at night and helped out with local information. The room is on 2nd floor and one of the best ones I have stayed at in air bnbs. Highly recommended.

    Sahil2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend for 1-2 people. Jeff and Linda were great hosts and I could not ask for a better stay. Very clean and way more than I expected. Awesome first Airbnb experience.

Elegant Victorian home located in the heart of Old Louisville. Situated between downtown and UofL/Churchill Downs, this location makes for a perfect retreat for folks wanting to stay close to downtown but with a neighborhood feel. Boasting the largest contiguous collection of Victorian mansions in the US, this historic preservation district has 45 sq. blocks of architectural styles from the 19th century. The heart of Old Louisville is Central Park, designed by Frederick Law Olmsted.
  • This a very good location if you want either downtown, U of L, or Churchill Downs. Lovely home in Old Louisville very tastefully furnished and decorated. Excellent response to any questions via text.

Cozy up over a former stable at our 1887 home in Old Louisville near downtown. Lots of love & attention go into making Little Carriage House on the Alley the perfect home for your Derby City adventures. The bohemian studio-ish space has all the design-forward touches you'd expect from a national lifestyle writer, and you'll have access to inside tips from your host - I've written about Louisville's food and bourbon scene for 10 years! **This space was featured on design site Apartment Therapy**
This is your own four walls in a studio style flat over a former stable in Old Louisville, an intriguing, historic and primarily residential neighborhood that's a super quick drive to top restaurants and other adventures in Louisville. Inspired by our own world travels we created this space from scratch to be a comfy and livable space for travelers looking for something a little edgier. You're staying in part of our home, not someone's 'investment property,' and it feels immediately personal. It's more than a place to crash; Little Carriage House is a memorable part of your Louisville experience. *** oh no, your dates are booked? Try other our listing at https://www.airbnb.com/h/vertigolouisville *** Now then. With 600+ square feet altogether, here's what to expect: SLEEP AND CHILL A roomy, light-filled living/bedroom has a super comfy queen sized Tuft & Needle bed and high-quality linens (that's so important!) and a blue velvet small sofa and ottoman you will want to Instagram immediately. Roku TV comes preloaded with Netflix. Exposed, limewashed by hand brick, and touches like vintage 2x4s as trim make for a rustic/industrial vibe; and landed this space on home design site Apartment Therapy. [Look up "A Sprawling 132-Year-Old Renovated Victorian Is Filled With All Our Favorite Details (And 8 Fireplaces)"!] A small rack with hangers provides space for your things. There's a window unit AC in here to keep things cool. ***** EAT, DRINK, BE MERRY A small dining room that's open to the kitchen has a vintage dining table (that does double duty as a work desk) and shelving crafted of reclaimed Kentucky horse farm fencing. The battered, beaten wood floor planks are original. Another window unit AC in here cools this area. ***** COOK The little kitchen is complete with full size stove, an amazing vintage farm sink, and full size fridge. Dishes are DIY here (as in no dishwasher) and you'll find dishware, cookware including cutlery, a toaster, and a coffee pot. ***** WASH UP A VERY compact bathroom with equally compact (I mean it, it's teeny!) step-in shower. Let's talk about this. Have you been in an airplane bathroom? Ok, now imagine shoehorning a shower in that. It's hard to dress in there without opening the door (to the kitchen, though you still have pricacy because that can't be seen from the living/bedroom). Please believe me when I tell you it's probably the tiniest bathroom you've ever been in. A standard-sized adult male did live here for years and managed, but I want you to be prepared. ***** HANG OUT A small balcony overlooks our courtyard (where you're also free to chill in the seating area or whip up dinner on the Weber). This is city living so you'll also see a parade of neighbor's back yards. ***** MUST LOVE DOGS We have two dogs. You may hear them bark in the courtyard but we discourage extracurricular barking. Truffle is a senior Pomeranian and Cassius Thunderpaws (aka Cash) is Great Pyrenees/German Shepherd bundle of exuberant love who wants nothing more than to meet you. Both available for cuddles! I also offer an Airbnb Experience starring Cash - ask for details! Take note: Our other dog-friendly Airbnb, Vertigo Louisville, shares the courtyard so you may see a pup who's staying with other guests. Bringing your own puppers? Yay! We're big fans of dog people and we'd love for you to bring your dog (that's just ONE, please). We may (possibly) be able to lend you a crate and will provide a doggie welcome kit. BUT: we do require that you check with me *before* booking and tell me about your dog (don't worry, NO size limit or breed restriction!). I'll send you our special house rules for pups and ask you to agree before proceeding with booking. Please note - until you've asked and agreed to the rules, don't use instant book or we can decline the bookings. ***** OLD HOUSE LOVE This old stable was built in 1887 and later converted to a garage with this flat above it.At one time it was a woodworker's shop (and honestly, in 132 years who knows what else?) We worked really (really!) hard on renovating the space but it's not perfect, and that's not what we're after. We love the character of quirky old spaces and if you do too, we'll get along just fine. ***** WHAT'S IT MEAN TO STAY IN A CARRIAGE HOUSE IN THE CITY? This flat is above our garage, so guess what that means? Yep, we open the garage every weekday morning before work. Between that and old windows overlooking a fairly busy street, light sleepers may prefer something in a quieter area. We've slept here quite a bit and been fine, but if you're used to a quiet country area you'll notice the city soundscape. Also, the whole 'On the Alley' name? Yeah. It's on an alley. Know your comfort level with watching daily urban life unfold outside your window before booking. Next door is an auto body garage; they're great neighbors, but the cinderblock building isn't really part of the attraction here. I suggest looking out the other windows at the gorgeous 1860s church across the street. ***** THERE WILL BE RULES We don't have a ton of rules but we mean business on all of them. This is our home and we've worked incredibly hard on it and ask that you respect it, as well as the neighborhood that supported us when we got our rental license. There's no smoking (of anything) in Little Carriage House *or* on the balcony – anywhere on the property, for that matter. We are so very strict on that! Smoking = leaving. Registered guests only, and we mean that too. You've been vetted by Airbnb and I'm sure your friends are lovely, but I don't know them, and this is our home, not a place for you to host a gathering. Do note we have a Nest cam that will capture all comings and goings on the property. If you're traveling with a dog we require that you contact us to ask for and agree to the pet rules *before* booking. You'll find we're very chill so long as you observe these house rules. ***** WANT MORE? Still reading? Awesome! Come find us on Insta or F B at Vertigo Louisville or look for # littlecarriagehouseonthealley We have the conditional use permit and license required from Louisville Metro. We're also the OG Airbnb, as in this is our home, not a place run by an absent owner or management company. If you need anything, I'll pop out my back door and be there in one minute to help. *****

  • The reason I booked an Airbnb in Louisville is because I'm moving there from Brooklyn in a couple of weeks for work and was in town (for the very first time!) to look for a place to live. My only criteria in booking a place were that it be affordable and dog-friendly; I really could have ended up just about anywhere. After staying an entire week (and an extra night, even!) I cannot overstate how lucky I was to have booked with Dana at the Carriage House. The space is thoughtful, comfortable and adorable; the suggestions for things to do are spot-on and the neighborhood has some true gems; my dog Georgia found a new best bud in Cash. For me, though ... a stressed out Louisville novice and future Louisvillian ... the best part of my stay was having the perfect host for my first time there. I certainly sought out much more advice than the average guest and having access to a literal expert on Louisville turned out to be invaluable to me. But anyone at all will see that Dana loves her home, the Carriage House, Vertigo, Old Louisville, the city of Louisville, and everything that they have to offer. Most importantly, it truly feels like she wants you to love them all, too ... and makes it super easy for you to do so!

  • The Carriage house is absolutely spotless and gorgeous. We loved how accommodating and hospitable Dana and her husband were, and how sweet their dogs are! It's a lovely location tucked in a small neighborhood just minutes away from downtown. I cannot recommend this stay highly enough!

    Olivia2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • This place is wonderful! Dana has done a fantastic job turning this carriage house into a beautiful and relaxing place to stay while in Louisville. The house is amazing and we really loved hanging out there. Dana is also a wonderful and friendly host - willing to offer tips and local recommendations that were always a hit. We would definitely stay there again if we find ourselves in Louisville. Thanks for a great stay!

    Candace2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Well let's see, where do I start? I guess the best review I can give is that we decided on an impromptu stay at the Carriage House at the end of our trip after staying 2 nights at Dana's other location, Vertigo, the previous week. Everything you can ask for in an Airbnb will be included in your stay here. From the decor, provisions, and extra small touches you will be hard-pressed to find a better place to stay anywhere - much less Louisville.

    Richmond2019-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • The Little Carriage House was a treat to stay in! It's in a great location, the room is appointed very well and is unique. The hosts are very friendly and readily available - you won't regret staying here.

    LeRoy2019-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • The carriage house was simply amazing. Beautiful space. Interesting neighborhood. Thoughtful accommodations. Great hosts. This is truly an Airbnb gem!

    Adam2019-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! We stayed a weekend; and wish we could’ve stayed longer. The apartment’s description is accurate. From the moment we walked into the gate, we loved the charm of the place. The place was clean and organized; easy to find things, too; adorable decorations and the bed was so comfortable. I was hesitant about the bathroom quarters because of the description on the Airbnb site; because of my size. But, I did not feel claustrophobic at all. Water was very hot! Dana had neighborhood suggestions for breakfast, lunch, dinner or snack. She communicated through email, changes or tidbits that so there were no surprises. The neighborhood is going through gentrification and this 1887 carriage house is an asset to this part of Louisville. We will be back!

    Mila2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • New place for Dana on her property. I expected the same as at Vertigo ( the original renovated space ). Of course Dana exceeded expectations again . Smaller space but perfect for single traveler or couple. The same “wanderlust” vibe in the space with all kitchy touches in the lamp -and decorative ambient lighting. Awesome sheets made in USA “Red Cotton” much appreciated and lovely smelling organic shampoos/conditioner/body wash . Of which I will order ASAP. Don’t mind the small shower it works . Fan n air conditioning provided white noise n drowned out city noises. Sweet place with all the amenities of home n coffee too! Once u check in, u don’t wanna leave !

  • We had such a great time in Louisville and this airbnb really made that happen. Justin's place was very cool and unique, and he had provided every amenity that we could have forgotten. Parking is on the street, but we never had an issue parking anywhere besides right outside the front door. Of note ---- the most comfortable bed of any airbnb or hotel we have every slept on. We want one for our place!

    Daniel2016-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Jonathan was extremely helpful and checked in on us throughout our stay to see if there was anything we needed. The apartment was wonderful and he has thought of everything. The apartment was comfortable and so much nicer than staying in a hotel.

  • we had a great time! This apartment has an amazing location- walking around Old Louisville was perfect. We brought out kids (5 and 7) and they loved being able to roll out of bed and hit the playground right across the street. Justin was very responsive and welcoming. He greeted us at the door with Easter candy for the kids. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. Clean, beautiful, and perfectly located.

  • This is a beautiful apartment with hotel-calibre furnishings and a very pleasant 30-45 minute walk from Louisville's many downtown bars, restaurants, museums, and distilleries. We will absolutely try to stay here again on our next trip to Kentucky.

  • Chris was a very thoughtful Innkeeper and was there for anything I needed. He even saw that I was at the Inn on Thanksgiving and brought me a plate of traditional food. Great location, wonderful hospitality, and affordable - What more could you ask for? I will definitely stay here again.

Christopher also made sure we had the bathroom down the hall to ourselves during our stay, which was appreciated. Great place!

  • This was a great, stylish space to stay during the conference I was in town for. I appreciated the prompt responses from the hosts and loved the quiet solitude during my downtime. It was a wonderful stay in a historic neighborhood that was just 15 minutes from the church where my conference was being held. It was an easy check-in and I found it very easy to come and go with a parking lot located just behind the home. I would definitely stay in this home again the next time I'm in town!

    Adriana & Martin2019-06-07T00:00:00Z
  • This place was as charming as the pictures indicate. I loved all of it, including quality bedding and wonderful pillows! I traveled with my 70+ year old mom, we stayed two nights and loved our on extended morning and last night watching movies. The only thing to be considered is the stairs you take leading to the third floor unit, they’re straight up and outside along the house. I was fine with it, but if if my stay had consisted of someone with issues, or carrying up youngsters and all that is required for them, I’d take it into consideration. My mom has a vision issue and there’s no way she could carry her suitcase up or down. I had no problem doing it, but for others that might present a problem. They replied promptly the few times I reached out to them, had a great notebook of information with blank pages full of notes from previous guests on must see/do/eat...loved that! There are plenty of things to read, fun art, books and board games. Truly we loved the spot and I recommend to anyone who enjoys ambiance and charm. Thank you Steve and Jessica!

    Myra2018-08-19T00:00:00Z

  • Don’t think twice, choose this place! Excellent host, and a very spacious place with thoughtful, modern touches. I booked here last minute after a very bad experience at another Airbnb not far from this location. Carlyle was gracious enough to allow me to see the place beforehand (since the last place was not what I expected). Excellent home and experience. I would choose any Airbnb that Carlyle is hosting. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Old Louisville is a historic district and neighborhood in central Louisville, Kentucky, USA. It is the third largest such district in the United States, and the largest preservation district featuring almost entirely Victorian architecture. It is also unique in that a majority of its structures are made of brick, and the neighborhood contains the highest concentration of residential homes with stained glass windows in the U.S. Many of the buildings are in the Victorian-era styles of Romanesque, Queen Anne, Italianate, among others; and a large number of blocks have had few or no buildings razed. There are also several 20th-century buildings from 15 to 20 stories. Old Louisville consists of about 48 city blocks and is located north of the University of Louisville's main campus and south of Broadway and Downtown Louisville, in the central portion of the modern city. The neighborhood hosts the renowned St. James Court Art Show on the first weekend in October. Despite its name, Old Louisville was actually built as a suburb of Louisville starting in the 1870s, nearly a century after Louisville was founded. It was initially called the Southern Extension, and the name Old Louisville did not come until the 1960s. Old Louisville was initially home to some of Louisville's wealthiest residents, but saw a decline in the early and mid-20th century. Following revitalization efforts and gentrification, Old Louisville is currently home to a diverse population with a high concentration of students and young professionals.

We invite you to come and stay at The Samuel Culbertson Mansion historic bed and breakfast inn on your next visit to Louisville. This Georgian Revival mansion is located in the heart of the Old Louisville National Historic District, near downtown Louisville, the University of Louisville and Churchill Downs. Pamper yourself with the opulence of the Gilded Age, and enjoy a piece of traditional Kentucky in this former home of a President of Churchill Downs and the "Two Little Knights of Kentucky.
The President's Room was the master bedroom of the mansion. We named it because the master of the house, Samuel Culbertson, was president of Churchill Downs during the 1920s and 1930s. In this room you can almost feel the history of the Kentucky Derby around you. Can you hear the call to the post? Will you sleep in this room and dream of the famous Kentucky Derby races of Citation, Galahadion, War Admiral, and Whirlaway? You wouldn't be the first! The room has a king-size full canopy bed, and a large private bath with a shower.
This neighborhood has the largest collection of restored Victorian homes in the country and is the third largest Historical Preservation District in the U.S. Built as a suburb in the 1870s, Old Louisville consists of nearly 48 city blocks of Victorian-era homes – considered the oldest, largest and most beautifully preserved homes in the city. Amid the rich architecture of this community, you’ll also find quaint bed and breakfast inns and excellent dining options, surrounded by the beauty of mature magnolia and oak trees.
  • WOW! What an awesome house, location and hosts! Rudy and Jason were so responsive and welcoming. The house is a historical masterpiece. I wish I had more time to explore all of the unique pieces. Centrally located, it was easy to get to so many different places around the city. Oh - the the breakfast was amazing. I look forward to staying at the Samuel Culbertson Mansion next time I am in Louisville!

    Jennifer2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing! I don’t often write reviews. The building was amazing, the location was great but the service was outstanding. The best part of this experience is Rudy, the owner. He was warm, welcoming and happy to share local tips. His mansion was beautiful and filled with antiques, each with a story that Rudy was graciously willing to share. My wife and I were celebrating an anniversary and visiting several bourbon distilleries as well as Churchill Downs. One of the best bourbon stops we made was right in Rudy’s basement. He has an amazing bar complete with three juke boxes, a pool table and every high end bourbon you can think of. The home is over 120 years old and loaded with furniture and art twice as old. The pictures don’t do the place justice. I can’t say enough about this place. It was romantic, beautiful, convenient and interesting. One word of caution: Rudy has a very small pup that is quite protective, so if you’re going to give Rudy a hug and you’ll want to, look out for the little pup. Great job Rudy, we’ll be back!

This home is a cozy place that features the Queen Anne architectural style with beautiful woodwork and lots of space. Louisville is also known for hosting the annual Kentucky Derby as well as the St. James Art Fair along with many other attractions to enjoy.
Some of the beautiful features here include the impressive woodwork along with eight fireplaces (nonworking). There is an intimate foyer along with a living room, dining room, pool room, five bedrooms, eat-in kitchen, bar area, and two bathrooms. The first and second floors have about 5,000 square feet of space. The private room features a nonworking fireplace, small refrigerator, and also a microwave. The upstairs bathroom is shared and contains a large shower (no bathtub), and there is a shared half bath downstairs. We have never had a complaint about sharing the bathrooms.
When you step outside, you can enjoy a leisurely stroll through this uniquely mesmerizing neighborhood and are only a short walking distance from Central Park and the famous St. James Court neighborhood.

  • Janet was FANTASTIC! She was willing to accommodate an earlier check-in and was great with communication. The room was clean with a microwave, mini fridge and large flat screen tv. The king sized bed was very comfortable and the room had gigantic windows. She provided us with keys that locked the side/back door as well as our room. Had we stayed longer than one night, it would have been just as convenient and comfortable. It's about a 2 mile walk from the riverfront (which we made at peak hours, because why not??), but an $8 Uber ride. We had a lovely stay. THANKS for making our anniversary stay so comfortable, Janet!

  • The house is in a very safe and charming neighborhood in Louisville, and cab to downtown is about $6-9. Janet and her family are very nice and welcoming. My stay was brief but I hope I could have stayed longer! Sunlight if way more than sufficient in the daytime. And you do wake up in the middle of bird chirping and the smell of sunshine. The house is huge so there's plenty room for you to hang out. If you are an artistic kind, you might get inspired by it! It's bright, lively, but with a string of mysterious air. Grace, Janet's granddaughter also left me a beautiful flower. I wish I could stayed there longer!

  • Janet is a great host! Her response was very quick, and she is so friendly. Her place is clean, quiet, and comfortable. We slept very well. The location is also perfect! The neighbor is the historical district, so we looked around the beautiful houses. I really liked the atmosphere. We really enjoy the first trip to Louisville. Thank you, Janet!!

If you're wanting an incredible stay in Louisville with room for everyone and the space to enjoy it all, look no further than the city's most premium property nestled on a historic walking court, mere moments from downtown, in a traditional Victorian mansion nestled in the heart of the nation's largest Victorian preservation district.  Throw a rock and hit Central park, history, and excitement.  This home is close proximity to Louisville's premier attractions regardless of which Neighborhood you're looking to explore. Modern amenities and updates round out this fabulous property and bring home the comforts of today, in a setting that once saw horse and buggy walk by.  This home is historic, and perfect, for your historic stay and a trip you'll be talking about for decades. Distances - Kentucky Exposition Center & Fairgrounds - 4 miles Downtown & International convention center - 2 miles Churchill Downs - 5 miles University of Louisville - 5 miles ****Parking is 100% on the street.  Quite the norm in Old Louisville.  You should not have trouble finding parking spaces right along the side of the house, but parking is not available off street. No permit is required, and it is generally quite safe.****
  • This is a completely renovated old home in a very cool historic neighborhood. You can clearly see the attention to detail and the finishes are top notch. Extremely clean, very comfortable, 100% as advertised. We will be back next year!

  • What a gem!! This old historic home is completely renovated but still keeps a bit of that old Louisville charm. Set back from the road in a private walkway, the home’s exterior reflects the incredible history in the neighborhood. Inside, you’ll find all of the modern amenities that you could possibly want! There are a few restaurants within walking distance. We strolled through Central Park to the Old Louisville Tavern and had a fun time. 4th Street Live and surrounding bars/restaurants are just a quick Lyft away (8-10min), so you get the quiet reprieve from the hustle of downtown. The owners were fabulous to work with. Quick to respond. Even took my call at 11pm when we were locked out (a million thanks)! Will be back!

  • This was such a beautiful place! Surprised my boyfriend with a romantic weekend and he LOVED it! Pool was amazing, tub was amazing, and the whole house was amazing! Glenda was great with giving us privacy but still being available when needed help. Can't wait to come back sometime !

  • I highly recommend this amazing carriage house listing set in the heart of Louisville. The property is on a quiet street, ideally located to explore the city’s dining and entertainment offerings (Really enjoyed Harvest, Please and Thank You, and the Gralehaus). The description of the space is absolutely spot on…impeccably clean, well appointed, equipped with everything you’d need, and extremely comfortable. While the property is really something to see, nothing topped our hosts Glenda and Faith…they are just the best! Before, during and after our stay they did everything in their power to ensure we had an amazing experience! I cannot stress enough the hospitality these hosts offer is really extraordinary. I absolutely look forward to booking this space the next time I’m staying in Louisville!

  • This is a lovely place, quiet, well-appointed, and in a great old neighborhood. Street parking was always available, and the keyless entry relieved us of keeping up with a key. We would definitely stay here again.

  • Outstanding place to stay while in Louisville. Great location. Close to everything. Beautiful yard and pool. Glenda was very kind and was very quick to respond to questions.

  • I would totally recommend this wonderful carriage house to anyone! So clean and beautiful! Backyard was amazing and grogeous. Felt like we were staying in a New Orleans home. Great location. Would rent from Glenda again. Very accommodating host!

  • Our stay at the Oasis was great. The place was stunning, particularly the garden! The Oasis provided us the perfect, relaxing getaway, and is beautifully decorated and stocked with everything you would need. Glenda was a great host from start to finish. Meeting us at arrival and providing us with a quick tour of the place, and after that was very responsive to any queries we had. If you're looking to stay in Louisville we would definitely recommend the Oasis, such a beautiful place in such a lovely neighbourhood and very close to lots of attractions in Louisville.

Relax in this beautifully preserved historic home that is perfect for hosting groups with convenient access to everything Louisville has to offer. Large dining & living rooms with two full kitchens and access to a gorgeous 2-level deck with solar lights and perfect patio furniture for entertaining. This precious space is truly unique and will make for the perfect stay for your group to relax and enjoy outdoor views whilst in the middle of Historic Old Louisville architecture at its best.
This home was built as a duplex but is now presented as one big, gorgeous home. The first floor includes one bedroom with a queen and full size bed, a full bathroom, a large dining room, and comfortable living room with a well-equipped kitchen and access to a large back courtyard & deck. The second floor contains three large bedrooms, a second dining room, a complete bathroom with separated areas for the shower and toilet, and a newly renovated kitchen that has access to the top area of the outside deck. There is also a lovely and bright dressing room with a huge mirror that is the perfect space for guests to get ready in. The first bedroom has a king-sized bed, the second a queen bed, and a queen and full sized bed in the third bedroom as well as a futon that folds out into a full bed. Guests will have access to both of these amazing units as well as the double deck and HUGE private courtyard out back. The beautiful courtyard in the back connects to a 1900s Gothic brick church that the owners are currently renovating to turn into a wedding venue. It's stunning and from the deck guest will have access to incredible views of this old church, the stain-glass windows and bell-tower gargoyles. If you happen to see the owner at the church during your stay, she would love to give the full tour. It's pretty impressive. The courtyard is also fully fenced-in which is perfect for hosting your pets as long as you receive PRIOR approval (puppy please?) This is a unique property with lots of history. The owners can make themselves available to chat and educate guests if they's like to know more about their unique surroundings.
The neighborhood is Historic Old Louisville, which features some of the most impressive architecture this city has to offer. It is also close to downtown and therefore does see some undesirable foot traffic. It is essential to be mindful and aware of your surroundings.
  • Perfect place for a large group. Great location and the yard is huge!

  • Magnificent house, setting, grounds/ yard!! This place is unbelievable. This is a perfect house for a group. Plus, you could rent the carriage house in the back, if needed. We loved the yard and the double deck. The communication was prompt, and thoughtful. They were were very accommodating with check in, and out, times, which made our trip much easier. I highly recommend this house, and this management co.

    Asr2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay here. The house was impeccably clean, is even nicer and more spacious than the photos appear, and is set on a lovely large property with amazing outdoor space. It’s super well equipped, and the hosts pay a lot of attention to detail, which means there are plenty of extras, including coffee already in the kitchen, some toiletries in the bathroom, and plenty of extra blankets and towels around. We felt right at home during our first visit to Louisville!

    Lauren2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
