  • If you are ok with a shared bathroom, this is a great spot. it's a traditional rooming house near the very center of everything in Downtown Asheville.

  • This a clean and functional inn, and has a classic-historic charm.

    William2018-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • This place was sparkling clean. I thought the shared bath situation might be an issue but it wasn't. Great location, walkable to downtown and several bars restaurants. Pro tip: go to the French Broad Food Co-op next door for coffee in the mornings.

  • The Gray Rock Inn is my first hostel and I was pleasantly surprised. I thought it would be noisy but it was actually rather quiet. I never had to wait for the bathroom. It is a beautiful, historic property within walking distance of everything. Restaurants, bars, breweries, theaters, shopping, you name it. Peggy greeted me at arrival and she was very friendly and helpful. This is the perfect place for a solo traveler or couple wanting to explore the city by foot, and an excellent value for something so centrally located.

  • There are two communal bathrooms on the second floor, where Air B&B guests stay. During my two night stay I never had to wait to use one.

  • I loved the location, price, AC worked great, and people I met were very nice. I would stay here again.

  • Truly takes hospitality to another level. Checking in throughout the stay to make sure we had everything we needed. Really thoughtful amenities. Most of the time when you travel you don’t spend much time where you’re sleeping....we spent one of our afternoons just in the Airbnb and binge watched Netflix.

Were history to intersect with the present, were the Gilded Age to go modern, were Asheville to center all its creative energies on one special address, it would be here. Right here. Indeed, this is a kind of wanderlust (and wonder-lust) completely and uniquely ours. Welcome to Asheville! Here, in remarkable downtown, College Street is one of the most historic-yet-hip addresses in the city – a promenade that straddles the ephemeral boundaries between old-world charm and modern style. And 120 College Street is at the center of it all: above the Black Mountain College Museum and overlooking the Jackson Building, across from Roger McGuire Green in front of City Hall and the County Building, and Pack Square Park with a large open green space on a slope leading to the main stage, three water features including a splash fountain and original art by regional artists. There are many seating areas surrounded by native trees and shrubs. This beautiful 6.5-acre public space is an extra amenity for visitors to relax and linger. This is Asheville history, respectfully updated for the 21st century. So, while Real Life may be about compromise – sacrifice This to get That – we believe that vacation should be a special time. This is when you get both This and That, no compromise required. The Asheville Times Building @ 120 College Street is your no-compromise-required destination: at the intersection of past and present, in the shadow of the Jackson Building and Pack Square Park, and enveloped by the energy and charm of downtown life. Festivals: From Downtown After Five (once a month, in summer) and the Lexington Avenue Arts Fest, to Drum Circle and Art in the Park, downtown Asheville and the River Arts District are ripe with arts, culture, and creative pursuits.
  • Great location. Easy access to wonderful food and shopping. Neighborhood felt safe to be out at night. Night life goes loud and late. Earplugs are a must at bedtime.

    Jennifer2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Pros: great location downtown. Extremely clean. Cons: with great location cokes extremely noisy neighborhood. beware of construction going on, loud workers, thin walls, and fire station nearby. No WiFi, couldn’t even use without data. This is normally not an issue but I needed to work and ended up costing me double what I paid for the space since I couldn’t get on WiFi and couldn’t even send messages to host about the issues.

    Jenna2019-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • The style and thoughtfulness of this condo is very well done. It was better than pictured. The location couldn’t be better for walking to local shops, eateries and breweries. The bed was very comfortable and the condo had all the necessary luxuries for relaxing and enjoying our time. It seemed as if they have thought of everything you could need while away. We will definitely stay here again in the future!

    Kari2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, cool place, private and overall good. The only bummer was the hair in the shower and left over icecream. It should've been cleaner than that, especially for the price.

    Justin2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect for downtown adventures. Very clean. Easy to park and load/unload baggage. Thin walls but everyone is very quiet and considerate.

    Melissa2019-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot! Clean, comfortable, great location and nice space.

    Andrew2019-03-24T00:00:00Z
  • Nice and convenient to everything downtown!

    Anne2019-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I stayed here for 4th of July weekend and had a blast. The location of this apartment is great and in walking distance of everything you'd want to do in downtown Asheville. The apartment was very clean and the keypad entry is great so you don't need to worry about carrying keys around. As a host, Karen was very responsive to all questions we had leading up to the trip. We did have some issues with the WiFi being very spotty, though not to any fault of the hosts. Just something to be mindful of if you need to log onto a laptop/tablet at any time during your stay. I would definitely stay here again.

Dragonfly Cottage built in 1905 is vintage Asheville boarding house, mix of modern (completely updated) and old. Walking distance to Brewery"s, or downtown shops and restaurants. Downtown neighborhood can be loud. Some people are not prepared for noise and street people. Sweet front flower garden, large front porch, and front parlor available to guest at all times. Old dog Levi is now confined to back of the house, host living quarters and back yard, not trustworthy around guest.
Couple or singles get away! Nice old world bedrooms. Two rentals up stairs this one is on the front of house with private bath across the hall. The other rental is Dragonfly Cottage II on back of house with ensuite bath. Both have comfortable queen size beds. Bathrooms completely updated. Local art displayed to create a mix of old and new. Pease ask about the artist. Parlor room downstairs available for those that can't sleep (not wanting to disturb partner) and/or want a place to sit, and read. Have a bourbon before retiring, a southern tradition!
This is a downtown transitional neighborhood with 24/7 activity. Grocery, art's theater, restaurants, brewery's are all right down the street. Friday night drum circle is a must in Asheville.
  • Paula’s place is in a great location to walk into town. It’s close to many breweries and restaurants. Inexpensive Uber ride if you don’t like hills! The house itself is lovely, with thoughtful touches like coffee, chocolate and Beer share in refrigerator. Very clean and comfortable. Lovely front porch to relax on and the neighborhood is fairly quiet. Paula knows the area well and gave as some excellent tips on hikes and food! We also got to go with her to feed her horses at the Biltmore!! Really cool. Asheville is a wonderful place and now we have found an equally wonderful place to stay when we go there!

    Kathy2018-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • Book your stay here! Handy if you have a car, but town is also walking distance. Paula was very friendly and a wonderful host!!

  • Gorgeous home & centrally located within walking distance to downtown Asheville. Paula recommended some great areas to explore in West Asheville as well during our stay!

    George2017-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • Really lovely house in a great location! We were able to walk most everywhere we wanted. Paula was a warm and welcoming hostess. The room was very nice and the bed was very comfortable. We can recommend her place very highly!

    Rebecca2017-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • Paula is great! My friend and I were looking for a place to stay close to downtown Asheville and we're so glad we came across the Dragonfly Cottage. Paula made us feel right at home as soon as we stepped foot inside. She has the sweetest dog, Levi. She's also very knowledgeable about the area and especially Biltmore. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. Her home is very warm, cozy, and inviting. We can't wait to come back!

    Mackenzie2017-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • Paula was very pleasant and responsive. Accomodations are a private room and bathroom rather than a private section of the cottage. The location was not ideal but close to downtown area.

    Isabel2019-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot to stay close to downtown (10 min walk), and Paula was a great host! So welcoming and helpful. The house and room were so cozy and inviting as well. Would definitely stay here again!

Good news! We manage three condos at the 120 College Street: The Gazette 200 (2BR), The Daily 201 (1BR), and The News 202 (1BR), with a total of 4 bedrooms to accommodate 8 guests. ☀☀☀ Antique-Chic DESIGN ☀☀☀ The Gazette Condo 200 at 120 College Street is a special place. It’s probably not like anything you have at home, but it is exactly the historic-yet-contemporary feel you seek in Asheville. It is historic. It is completely renovated. It is period-perfect. It is home. Or, a home-away-from-home, at least. Each of three properties, The Gazette Condo 200, The Daily Condo 201 and The News Condo 202 in the Asheville Times Building at 120 College Street rises to 10-foot ceilings and blends select antiques with new pieces, modern furnishings with neutral tones, sleek lines with strategic pops of ebullient color. The white leather seating invites togetherness, the architectural walls dull outside sound, the kitchen is fully stocked, the West Elm dining table seats 8, the closets are custom, and the bathrooms are completely modernized. And you’ll sleep like a baby, thanks to custom drapes and blackout shades. This is where modern meets old world, and it couldn’t be any more Asheville. It’s the perfect complement to your historic downtown experience, complete with historic views over iconic downtown sights. ---------------------------------- ☀☀☀ A Piece of History ☀☀☀ There’s nothing quite so Ashville as staying in a living piece of history. Specifically, a living piece of history where local news writers and makers once plied their craft! We’ll tell you a little story. The 1880-1930 era was a pivotal time in Asheville’s history: This was the Gilded Age, a post-industrial and pre-Depression age that welcomed the railroad, grandiose living, urban development, and the creative minds of O. Henry, Thomas Wolfe, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and others. Asheville rode so high it almost side-stepped the Great Depression. Asheville Times Building @ 120 College Street was originally built in 1914 for the Asheville Gazette (later, the Asheville Times), occupied 120 College Street until the 1930’s ————————————————— Fun fact: In 1929, Thomas Wolfe would forever immortalize this time in his highly autobiographical first novel “Look Homeward, Angel,” a coming-of-age story that mirrored his life in Asheville and experiences at his mother’s famous boardinghouse, Dixieland, "the most famous boardinghouse in American fiction.” Just two blocks north on Market Street is the restored Thomas Wolfe Memorial State Historic Site and welcomes visitors Tuesday-Saturday.
☀☀☀ Welcome ☀☀☀ Welcome to the Asheville Times Building @ 120 College Street, the historic and cultural center of downtown Asheville and former home to the city’s first newspaper. Welcome to a historic building that still unfolds over original hardwood floors, five-panel doors, antique doorknobs, banisters, and railings. Welcome to a home-away-from home above a museum and a multi-level amazing view overlooking Pack Square Park. A downtown condo, footsteps to fine restaurants and trendy nightlife, art galleries and antique shops. Yes, it’s safe to say – this is it. You’ve found it. Over 1,400 square-feet of historic space, The Gazette Condo 200 offers a blend of antique and contemporary furnishings, neutral tones and bright pops of color, solid woods and airy windows, architectural touches and high design. This is everything you never knew you needed in your downtown Asheville experience. And indeed, downtown Asheville is here, RIGHT here. Walk out your door and you’re on College Street, the historic center of Asheville and jumping-off point for art walks and ghost tours, microbrew flights and year-round festivals, fine dining and museum-hopping. You’re in the middle of it all and exactly where you want to be. ---------------------------------- ☀☀☀ LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! ☀☀☀ Walk into the shadow of history (and of the iconic Jackson Building), and you immediately feel the pull: 120 College Street is a place where old meets new, where history blends seamlessly with today – where a contemporary patina adds depth to the monuments, parks, and stories that have resided here for more than a century. The Gazette Condo 200 in the Asheville Times Building @ 120 College Street is your no-compromise-required destination: at the intersection of past and present, in the shadow of the Jackson Building and Pack Square Park, and enveloped by the energy and charm of downtown life. It embodies and embraces the Asheville scene – a scene that draws designers and artists, creatives and music lovers, foodies and artisanal beverage aficionados alike. Here’s what awaits: Dining: Asheville is a food-and-drink dream – there’s a reason Livability.com named us a Top 10 Foodie City! – and from 120 College Street, you’re just minutes to much of your must-eat list, including French Broad Chocolate Lounge, Curate, Sovereign Remedies, Twisted Laurel, Over Easy Cafe, City Bakery, Bouchon, Mela, and Rhubarb. Culture: There’s nothing quite like Asheville culture to put some pep in your step and some erudition in your life. Be sure to schedule stops at the Black Mountain College Museum (your downstairs neighbor!) and the Asheville Art Museum. Finally, don’t forget to checkout a show at The Orange Peel or The Grey Eagle! History: From 120 College Street, you’re just minutes to many of Asheville’s historic landmarks, including the Vance Memorial, Monument Corner, the Thomas Wolfe Memorial, and Asheville’s historic Flatiron Building, not to mention numerous statues, plaques, and monuments that commemorate the city’s past. Urban Trail Art & History Tour: Art and history lovers, walk into history on Asheville’s Urban Trail, a 1.7-mile walking tour home to 30+ stops at creative landmarks, public sculptures, dioramas, and more. It begins at Pack Place, almost at your front door! The renowned Blue Spiral 1 Gallery and Momentum Gallery are a couple of blocks away and the Black Mountain College Museum is right downstairs. Festivals: From Downtown After Five (once a month, in summer) and the Lexington Avenue Arts Fest, to Drum Circle and Art in the Park, downtown Asheville and the River Arts District are ripe with arts, culture, and creative pursuits.
  • What a wonderful place! Clean, stylish, a perfect place to stay while visiting Asheville. Walking distance to everything!

    Pamela2019-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • Karen's place is exceptionally well-appointed; we had absolutely everything we needed to make our "home base" from which to explore Asheville. The beds are super comfortable, and the kitchen is well stocked. There is no better location either: it's an easy walk to the best shops, restaurants, and other notable places of interest. This may just be my favorite Airbnb rental ever!

    Elizabeth2019-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • Great location right across from a park with splash fountain and stage. Easy walking distance to restaurants and shopping. Plenty of space. Parking was no problem.

  • Best place to rent...Great condo, great location! Loved it!

    Sharon2019-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • SPARKLING CLEAN, comfortable beds, fully stocked kitchen, city views and close proximity to downtown Asheville! PERFECT location while attending the yoga festival and exploring the city!

    Yvonne2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great place....but.... The apartment is really nice. Big spaces and a huge kitchen. The location in relation to shopping and food is ideal as well. However.....in the bedrooms eyeplugs are provided by each bed. This is because its in a busy area, with a late night club (3am) close by. The fire department is very close as well. You hear EVERYTHING. Every street conversation, siren and car. Not ideal.

    Steve2019-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great location for walking to shopping, dining etc. Property was exactly what we wanted and more. Highly recommend

If you want an in-town experience, this is it! Perfectly situated near downtown in a quiet historic neighborhood. Every element has been curated to create a special experience, including original artwork and hand-painted furniture, cotton linens & comfy bed. A beautiful en-suite bath has been designed for your convenience. Enjoy coffee, tea & snacks, while gazing at the backyard. A mini fridge, electric kettle, coffee maker & all the kitchenware is supplied. Guest wing with private entrance. Smoking only permitted outside. If you are bringing a pet, please ask for pet guidelines.
I have 2 airbnb rooms, that have very similar features and feel. So if this room does not have the availability you are seeking.. check out the other room, The Sweet Spot - https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/6503015. The Boutique Room is a nice size bedroom with private ensuite bathroom in a separate guest wing in back of the house. The most important things for me are: clean and fresh, nice ambiance (decor), firm cozy bed, with quality linens, hot water and good pressure in shower and an area you can make a snack, coffee or tea. The room is equipped with a small fridge, toaster oven, electric kettle and coffee maker some basics (condiments, tea, coffee) and utensils. Original art work enhances wall spaces. Air Conditioning for hot summer days. A table with 2 chairs, for hanging out. There are lots of great little extras. I am happy to stock granola, organic yogurt and milk, good coffee, fruit and if you have something you love, just ask! You have a semi-private entrance, so if you are out and about late, no worries. There is a true feeling of privacy in the back of the house. Green fenced in backyard with table and chairs to relax - smokers welcome outside. Your safety is important to me - Locks on guest doors, fire extinguishers, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, safety card, motion sensor lights by entrances, and off street parking etc.. My driveway can accommodate 2 medium size SUV. If you have a very large SUV or truck you may have to park on street where there is typically ample parking. Only 3 blocks to town where you can enjoy many restaurants, breweries, galleries, shops , Asheville Yoga Studio (about 7 blocks) and more. Best of both worlds: close to the downtown, but quiet space when you are ready to relax. Dogs are welcome, but please check in with me BEFORE you book, so that I can send the pet rules to be sure you can abide by them. Fenced in yard for romping. We love animals. There is a $10 Pet fee per visit. I have tried to think of all the necessities, lots of conveniences, and many luxurious extras. I want you to feel at home and pampered. If there is something I missed, I am open to suggestions and requests. Most of the beautiful photos were taken by an Airbnb photographer with a wide angle lens that does distort the room size a bit.
This home is in the charming, historic Montford which has beautiful Victorian homes, tree-lined streets, and fabulous gardens. It is just three blocks to town, where there are cafes, music, and shopping.

A beautiful one-hundred year old Richard Sharp Smith historic home in Montford neighborhood. 3 blocks from the center of town, 5-15 minute walk to everything. Hot tub, high speed wi-fi and cable tv, outdoor spaces for relaxation, gourmet kitchen.
You will be staying in the "Blue Room". This is downstairs next to the "Green Room". Those two rooms share the Mauve bathroom. This home is a quick 5 minute walk from the center of downtown. This historic neighborhood is peaceful, yet only a short walk to all the fun activities downtown. Fantastic restaurants nearby, the Pritchard Park drum circle, the US Cellular Center, and St. Lawrence Basilica are only three blocks away. We are a 5 minute drive from UNCA.. You won't need to move your car once you are settled in, unless you decide to go to the Biltmore Estate and Biltmore Village, 10 minutes away. Easy access to the Blue Ridge parkway, NC Arboretum, Folk Art Center and much more!
I love the beautiful old historic homes in this Montford neighborhood. My house dates from circa 1910, termed a "Victorian cottage", and built by Richard Sharp Smith. Many of the homes in the neighborhood date from the 1880's. This Victorian neighborhood was the first suburb of Asheville. It is very quiet and friendly. Lots of beautiful walking opportunities around the neighborhood.
  • Delightful, simple, and easy. Jeff and Rita had everything organized and accessible with many amenities to choose from.

    Yuhuan2016-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • We felt comfortable to use the facilities and come and go as we pleased. The neighborhood was quiet (we stayed on a Friday night). The location is fantastic in relation to downtown Asheville. We were invited to bring our one-year-old if we come back again, which made us feel very welcome. One thing: I expected for the mauve bathroom to connect the two bedrooms. However, the description does NOT state this--I just read it this way. The bathroom is simply down the hall, which was fine. We were happy to find and patronize the Victorian Cottage!

    Rachel2015-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect location for exploring Asheville. Easy walk to downtown. Lots of restaurants nearby. Jeff and Rita are awesome hosts! We felt very comfortable and at ease in the home. They provide great amenities; everything considered. Will definitely be back when visiting Asheville.

  • Great room in downtown Asheville. Though brief, I really enjoyed my stay.

    Giorgio2016-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I had so much fun in this charming home. It's in a beautiful, quiet neighborhood close to downtown, and has everything you could need to feel comfortable. Jeff made us feel very welcome. Will definitely visit again if we're ever in Asheville.

    Laurie2016-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • This is by far one of the best places to stay in Asheville. Rita is a consummate host and our room was very comfortable. The house is so welcoming.

    Tammy Lynn2014-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the Victorian Cottage! The location is perfect - you can walk to downtown Asheville in about 5- 10 minutes. The house is charming and the bedroom (blue room) was very spacious and comfortable. Rita and Jeff made us feel right at home. It was a nice touch to have coffee and muffins available in the mornings. We will definitely be back!

  • Exactly as advertised. Very easy walking access to everything in downtown Asheville. We parked our car when w got there, and didn't move it until we left.

    Robert2017-04-10T00:00:00Z
  • You can’t beat the location, especially if you’re going to a show at the Orange Peel. Room 11 is at the back of the building so we had no problem with street noise.

    Tom2018-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • John was extremely helpful with tips on places and things that I would like to do. The listing was accurate. The room was upstairs and was very clean. The Inn is on one of the main streets in Asheville. It can be very busy.

This adorable throwback flat is located IN downtown. Private parking, walk everywhere. Epicenter of the south slope, you can walk to all the breweries within 5 minutes, anywhere downtown within 10 minutes. Second floor, 440 SQ FT apartment in historic house. 1 bedroom, living room with IKEA sectional/sofa bed, roku TV, equipped kitchen and bathroom with claw foot tub/ shower surround. In the same building as Studio C and Heart of Downtown listing, see reviews
Great downtown location and tons of charm. Things to note: If you are traveling with 4 people, there is space to accommodate but it will be tight in the living and sleeping area, hopefully you all like each other! TV has Roku with Sling and Netflix, etc...but not local channels for some sports and such, of course tons of breweries to walk to with games showing. No pets and no smoking on premises.
First mixed residential and office street in downtown, so a bit quieter but still lots of fun activity within seconds of the apartment.
  • Absolutely wonderful hospitality and flat! The location is SUPERB and literally downtown, just steps from some of the most awesome places in Asheville. I cannot recommend this accommodation and April enough.

    Eitel2018-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Well, we found the couch a bit uncomfortable and we were unable to get broadcast network or local TV channels, but other than that it was a great little place for two in a great location for a great price. April was a delight to work with and very responsive to questions and concerns. We would definitely stay there again....

    David2016-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • April's apartment is in a great location especially if you are into the craft beer scene. So many breweries in walking distance. The apartment is a short walk into the downtown with the shops and restaurants. We would recommend April's apartment.

  • Great base to explore Asheville. We would stay here again.

    Colin2019-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay in B Flat during our long weekend trip to Asheville. We are not new to the area but this was our first time staying downtown and certainly won't be our last. The location of the flat and the availability of on site parking can't be beat. We were able to walk to all the downtown shops and restaurants we wanted which was perfect. The flat was small but comfortable and a perfect size for two people. We slept well and had no complaints! April was VERY helpful in recommending some of her favorite local places to eat as well! We would definitely stay here again on our next trip!

  • We were pleased to find comfortable and clean accomodation which matched the description that Showee and Don provide on the website. Initially we backed our car off the street right up the narrow driveway to the door making it very convenient for unloading luggage. The small cottage/bungalow is also close to downtown Asheville and restaurants and indeed we walked over for a convenient breakfast at a nearby bakery and then just continued walking all over downtown Asheville. Once again we had no surprises on our stay here and I'd certainly come back here although for a larger vehicle it's perhaps easier to park at the bottom of the driveway.

  • Was easily one of the best Airbnb’s I’ve ever stayed at! Was incredibly clean, beautifully decorated, offered great amenities, and was conveniently located within walking distance to downtown Asheville! Will stay here again next time I’m in Asheville!

    Justin2019-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great space and a great location to explore Asheville. The rooms are new and very clean. There is a good size fridge, a microwave, and hot plates so you can prepare some simple meals. The space is simple but pleasantly decorated and roomy. The bathroom was new, clean, and the shower is good. The bed was comfortable and the temperature controls were simple to use. There is a driveway for parking and the house is about a 5-10 minute walk from Wicked Weed and everything else on Biltmore Ave. We went for hikes in the mountains during the day and walked to be breweries in the evenings and for those activities the location was perfect.

Welcome to our private downstairs apartment that has been lovingly renovated to offer easy comfort minutes from the heart of downtown Asheville. Nestled on a quiet cottage lane, our space offers a clean, welcoming and private space that is easy walking to coffee houses, pubs, restaurants and the civic center (4 blocks away).
1 bedroom apartment walking distance to downtown Asheville, no need for Uber (save $). Eco friendly with many added touches to make your stay relaxing and comfy. Coffee, tea, organic breakfast, microwave (for heating up those yummy leftovers from the many amazing restaurants near by), fridge. Fun decor, quality linens, comfy bed.
Montford is an adorable historic district right in the heart of downtown Asheville. The coffee shop is a 3 minute walk, the neighborhood pub, a 4 minute walk, delicious local restaurants, the greenway that takes you to the botanical gardens and UNCA where the tailgate market is happening every Saturday morning. Or you could head into downtown, 3 blocks in the other direction to find all of the eclectic shops, food, breweries and music that make Asheville worth visiting,
  • This apartment was perfect for a weekend stay. It was clean and spacious. Kelly was super communicative and helped us navigate a package arriving at her house of our clothes we forgot at home for that weekend's wedding and then with setting us up with an iron to get the wrinkles out. She also gave us a good Saturday morning activity tip. The whole family was super friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend a stay there. Note that there is no central A/C. This is clear in the listing; I just missed it, and I just assumed that in North Carolina there would be A/C in the summer. There was a window unit that worked well, but it was only in the living area, not in the bedroom, which stayed a little hot and stuffy. There's a comfortable pull-out couch in the living area right next to the window unit, in case you get too hot in the bedroom.

    Nicolas2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Kelly’s home is a beautiful shared space and included snacks and thoughtful touches. The location is perfect, situated right near downtown. And of course, we loved the cat. Thank you so much!

    Christian2019-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! What a fantastic stay at Kelly & Rick's. From the quiet location in a charming historic neighborhood an easy walk to Asheville's dynamic arts & brewery scene, to the stylish roomy apartment full of thoughtful touches - this Airbnb has it all. Be sure to take Kelly & Rick's suggestions for walkable restaurants - Five Ponts for old-school diner breakfast & Nine Mile for incredible Caribbean cuisine. With an unbeatable comination of great location, terrific hosts, and comfy amenities, I guarantee you'll want to move in!

    Mary2019-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Kelly and Rick were as amazing as the apartment. Everything was fresh, clean, and thoughtful. They were among the nicest people we have met in a long time, even in just the short times we were able to speak. Perfect amount of privacy and in a beautiful location. Walk through a beautiful historic neighborhood and you’re downtown in 10 minutes. I highly recommend.

    Phillip2019-03-31T00:00:00Z
  • The space was amazing, the hosts were friendly, and the location is only a 10 minute walk from the heart of downtown!

    Mikey2019-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • Kelly and Rick’s space was in the perfect location! We were able to walk downtown due to its close proximity. The space was adorable and just the right size for 2 people, accented with thoughtful touches (including fresh flowers). They went above and beyond with river float recommendations/help and were so sweet! Thank you!!

  • Just a few minutes walk to tons of shops and restaurants downtown and a short drive to some of the other great places in Asheville. It's a great place to rest your head in between adventures around town.

    Molly2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Kelly & Rick were great hosts! Chicken Pie Alley is a great spot as it’s just a short walk to downtown! We loved our stay and would definitely stay here again.

Breweries, restaurants, bars, civic center and shopping all walking distance. Park in your numbered reserved spot for your stay and walk for the rest of your journey.
My space is unique because it is located in the Lexington Market area which is the Haight Ashbury type of neighborhood of Asheville. Guests can have a luxurious bath or show in the separate shower with 2 shower heads. Sink, plates, refrigerator, microwave and we have just added a picnic backpack with separate plates, utensil, glasses with a hot cold storage compartment for food. It even has a wine bottle cooler. For those beautiful days you just don't want to wait inside to eat, it will help you to utilize the local deli's and grocery stores. In unit laundry in case your travels become interesting and a Roku tv w/blue tooth stereo for in unit entertainment. The unit also has a dedicated parking space #B25, which is priceless downtown.
Right downtown. Half a block from 2 of the 3 vinyl record stores in Asheville. 1 block from Harris Teeter and Trader Joe's. 3 blocks from South Slope. Walking distance to breweries and eclectic (Non-corporate) local shopping, restaurants and local live music venues. ! block from Asheville Music Hall, Asheville one stop, 5 Walnut, Mtn. Madre, The Vault. Across the street from the Civic Center. 1 block from Food Lion Skate Park. Lots more within 2 blocks the entire downtown within 5 blocks. Park your car in space #B25 and leave it for your entire stay.

  • John's place was great! It was extremely clean, and in a perfect location! We were able to walk to bars, shops, breweries, restaurants etc and the free parking at the condo was very nice to have in such a prime location! The place was very clean and comfortable and John was always quick to respond! We would definitely stay where again!

    Kaylee2019-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • The location was perfect for access to downtown shopping, dining, and nightlife. Condo was very quiet and nicely furnished. The host was very quick to respond to questions, and offered great recommendations on food and entertainment.

"Studio C" Cozy efficiency on first floor in heart of downtown, epicenter of the brewery district. Park your car in our lot and walk to all restaurants and breweries in minutes, or cook your own meals in the equipped kitchen. Queen latex bed with roll out full size bed. Claw foot tub for soaking. Roku TV with Netflix, Amazon Prime, Sling and more.
Downtown! Walk to everything in seconds, this is IN downtown, not near it. Charming 1920's building with efficiency apartment on first floor (upstairs is another rental, some guests may be heavier footed than others) in safe neighborhood. Private parking. Walking convenient to all restaurants, breweries, co-op, theater, music venues and more.
Residential charm with downtown living Great neighbors No need for a car
  • The studio apartment was very clean and cozy. The residential building is situated on the corner, so the traffic and people walking along the street were a little loud at night. Otherwise, it's a great location in a fun city!

    Wendy2016-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect for a couple. We walked everywhere! Very central and easy to get around. Would definitely stay here again!!

    Trina2016-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Studio C was great! Space was small, so you should be comfortable in a studio (as the name implies). This is perfect for a weekend getaway in Asheville.

    Jonathan2015-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • April was a great and timely communicator. Suite C was clean and cozy and in an excellent location--perfect for an easy walk to downtown Asheville! It was a great spot from which to explore the city. 5 stars!

    James2017-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • April's place is super convenient to everything and downtown Asheville. We did not have to Uber many times at all. It is wonderful to have assigned parking in downtown Asheville. The studio was clean and had all the amenities that you could think of.

    Rebecca2017-05-22T00:00:00Z
  • Very cozy. Had pretty much everything you need. The location was perfect and walking distance to everything downtown. We would stay there again.

    Ronnie2019-04-22T00:00:00Z

  • April and her studio were very pleasant to experience right in the heart of downtown Asheville. They were so accommodating to our needs. So appreciated the warm welcome! The bath tub is great!

  • Great location, walking distance to literally everything!

    James2018-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • This was a nice place to stay for a couple nights that was right in the heart of downtown and within walking distance to all the hotspots.

    Molly2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Jon was an outstanding host and a super friendly guy. He kept in great communication leaving us worry free upon arriving for check in. When we got there, he generously offered us an extra apartment to stay in that he also had vacant for the night at no additional cost, which saved me the trouble of having to blow up my air mattress for my friend. Later in the night, Jon caught us on our way out of the building as we were about to make the walk to a concert downtown and offered to let his uber drop us off before getting to wherever he had to go. Jon's generosity and hospitality truly exceeded my expectations coming from the host of a studio apartment. As for the room itself, it was tastefully decorated and had a pleasant aroma to it, making us feel right at home as we walked through the door. Everything was exceptionally clean from the towels Jon provided to the fresh sheets on the bed (which to our surprise was memory foam and very comfortable). Also provided in the room that we found helpful was detailed map of downtown Asheville, WiFi network and password written on the fridge, and extra K-cups for the Keurig. The location of this apartment was also perfect because it was within walking distance of everything in downtown Asheville, allowing us to explore more of the city/ saving us the costs of having to get an uber or taxi everywhere. Compared to the other hotels in Asheville with this great of a location and quality of room would've cost a couple hundred more per night. I am so thankful to have found my home away from home every time I visit Asheville and would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for the same.

    Dustin2018-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • This apartment is accurately presented. Its location is outstanding, being only two blocks from the edge of the action in central downtown. Asheville being quite compact as a small city, one can walk anywhere from Jonathan's apartment and go to and from throughout the day. It was clean and efficient to use. This apartment is a very good value for one or two persons in downtown A'ville for a few days.

    Tom2019-04-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great location!

    Juliana2019-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • If you a looking for a nice, safe place that is very reasonable and close to town, this is it. The location is easy to get to, with free parking in the back lot. Aside from driving to see waterfalls, our car was parked. Though some areas may be a bit further than others, we walked to the art district, most if not all breweries and all through town. We felt it was a very safe, easily walkable city and Jonathan’s place was perfect for us. Next time we are in Asheville, we will be staying here again.

    Kraig2019-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • The place was great! Tiny, but all we needed. Excellent location; we were able to walk to pretty much everywhere we wanted to go. John was very hospitable and gave us some great tips on what to check out nearby.

This comfy hideaway is a very unique space. I like to consider it an art lovers creative space. Tucked in the middle of downtown Asheville, this unit provides maximum comfort, front and back yards for your fur babies, a short walk to all things downtown AVL, a short drive to all the best hiking, and a community of wonderful souls that are always happy to point you in the right direction. You will love staying here!
The neighborhood is great! It is diverse, and full of Asheville flare! We love where we live, and are certain that you will as well!!!!
  • Basement apartment near downtown. Good for a stay over night. Shower has very little pressure and flow.

    Marcela2018-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Easy to find, convenient parking, good space and convenient to downtown. Overall very pleased with my stay!

    Tiffany2018-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • I didn't stay at the unit advertised since there was something wrong with the water pressure in the shower, but Jonathan was kind enough to put me in a different unit. The bed was insanely comfortable and Jonathan was an incredible host!

    Priya2019-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Cool comfortable studio in convenient area. The location may seem a little odd upon arrival. It looks like a dorm on the outside but inside is converted to apartments. The place next door held a dance/club event one night, but we could not hear anything - noise was never an issue. Location was great for us, just a few blocks from the restaurants, breweries and shops. Jonathan was very communicative and helped quickly with a couple of questions. Check-in and check-out was a breeze.

    Laura2017-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • John was awesome, super friendly guy, really fast to communicate and very accommodating. The pictures don’t do justice to the place. It’s such a cool spot in the perfect location. We wish we could have spent more time here but we will definitely be back!

  • Awesome basement space walking distance from downtown Asheville. Very roomy!

    Robert2019-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • This place was on a quite side street within walking distance to everything! Jon was readily avaible to help when needed.

    Mellissa2018-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great place to stay! The description is spot on! It was close to everything and we were able to walk to anything we wanted to do. We did go to west Asheville so we did drive there and coming and going was easy with the parking lot right behind the apartment. We appreciated the recommendations for food, music, and shopping. I was traveling with my daughter and the space was big enough for us, clean and comfortable. We will definitely go back and continue to recommend to others!!

Please read *expectations in “the space.” The heart of downtown is just a short 15 min walk away & Orange Peel is a 13 min walk away. We have a sometimes loud toddler in the house & we share one bathroom. Once booked, please be sure to read the House Manual. On Tues, a sitter will be watching our boy in the common space & our bedroom. Also before booking please upload a gvmt id to your profile. We require all of our guests to have a verified gvmt issued ID and host recommendation Thank you!
*expectations: Scammers: If I have any suspicion that something is in your inquiry is off I will immediately report your account. We find that a handful of past guests who have not read the information on the host pages entirely, both before and after booking, tend to be the rare individuals to leave less than glowing reviews as a result of misplaced expectations. So as to make your experience the best possible, we recommend reading the provided information in its entirety to see if our space is a good fit for your expectations. Booking We offer one night stays during the week, but two nights minimum on the weekends. Homestay This homestay is our primary residence which means your room is private and the common areas & washroom are shared. And that we have a toddler who talks loud. So if you plan on sleeping in late we have provided ear plugs in one of the dresser drawers. There is one bedroom available for your stay. It has been our nursery in the past and now has a queen bed and a sunset view toward downtown and the mountains. There is one shared jack and jill bathroom off of the living room. The living room has a couch and a hammock. Travel time The heart of downtown is just a short 15 minute walk away and the Orange Peel venue is only a 13 minute walk away. Once booked, please be sure to read the House Manual in the app. House manual likes being read. :) We love our condo in Downtown Asheville. From our condo, it's an easy stroll to downtown to get a cup of coffee, enjoy dinner or drinks, stroll through an art gallery, or catch a baseball game. We are far enough out, though, that we still get a restful night's sleep. You will also have access to the kitchen, living room, bathroom, wifi, and parking. Our home is pet-free. Pets are not allowed due to slight allergy. The Biltmore Estate is about a 10 minute drive. The Grove Park Inn is about a 6 minute drive. A plethora of restaurants are in 12 minute walking distance or a 5 minute drive. The River Arts district is about an 8 minute drive away as well. One of the access roads to the Blue Ridge Parkway is 1/2 mile away. Our building was built in 2008 and has a modern style. There is a bus stop down the hill, though you would not need it to access downtown areas. We are also within 1 mile of a traditional grocery store and a co-op. Asheville is very cyclist friendly, so let us know if you have cycling questions. We love showing off our city, so if you are up for suggestions on favorite restaurants or places not to miss (French Broad Chocolate Lounge!) then we would be glad to advise. Some of these tips are in our guidebook and a picture of food suggestions in the pics. We also love the outdoors and can give you tips on great hikes. We have an iron and ironing board. The washer and dryer is limited for use during your stay upon request. Once you are booked, please be sure to read the House Manual in the app, it will answer most if not all your questions as we are typically not available on site for check in. We have a toddler, so there are some toys around the house. Our home is somewhat "baby-proofed" but if you are traveling with a little one you are still responsible for your child's safety. Parking at our condo is free. If you're driving downtown, rather than walking, event parking can range from $5 to $10. Mon - Saturday street parking meters don't charge after 6pm. You'll likely spend about a dollar an hour at most parking decks and metered parking. Take plenty of quarters for metered or you can use the passport parking app. Uber ride is about $5 We are a legally recognized Homestay permitted by the city of Asheville. The definition of a Homestay means this is our primary residence. Short term vacation rentals (29 days or less) are restricted in Asheville city, but we do have permission to operate for short term rentals as a licensed homestay. Check photos for permit. (The photo is cropped to protect our address and other information.)
Our neighborhood is convenient to downtown though not amidst the traffic and noise.
  • Rebecca is very professional and everything was just as it was advertised. Our room was very nice and we even had a small fridge which was perfect for storing some wonderful Carolina peaches. This location is very close to a bustling, vibrant and funky downtown. Rebecca provides a great book with ideas of places to visit and eat. Very helpful. Great hosts and great location.!

    Jo Ann2015-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Rebecca's apartment was neat, clean, and close to downtown Asheville. She even left plenty of snacks for us on her kitchen counter. The bedroom was clean and had everything we needed. We enjoyed our night there.

    Grier2014-04-07T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed staying at Rebecca and Michael's! We met Michael briefly, and my cousin enjoyed chatting with him about comic books. Michael helped us search for some late night food spots and even offered us snacks to make sure we were comfortable. The place was very clean, safe, and homey, as well as the neighborhood. I'm sure we will be back again soon, and will definitely try to book with them again if available!

    Christie2016-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect spot to walk around downtown Asheville. Michael and Rebecca are very accommodating and full of knowledge about the great eateries, breweries and entertainment.

    Hudson2018-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Rebecca and Michael are so friendly and ready with excellent suggestions. Their apartment is very close to downtown Asheville, so I was able to walk everywhere. Everything was super clean and their apartment is really cool, too. The guidebook was amazing and something I did not expect. It had a map of the best way to walk downtown with clear directions and lots of suggestions for hiking, dining, and more. Definitely recommend!

    Annie2015-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great quick trip to Asheville and Rebecca's home was clean and centrally located! We will try to stay again if we go back!

    Melissa2016-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Rebecca and her husband were great host! Access to the apartment and bedroom is extremely convenient. The apartment was a shared space and the bedroom is super comfortable! Michael was extremely responsive to my questions when I booked the place last minute at like 7PM for that same evening. I forgot their child's name but he was super duper cute!

This cozy, downtown hideout is the perfect place to escape reality and take in everything Asheville has to offer. Steps from all of the breweries, bars, restaurant's, shops, etc. You can find outdoor adventures galore in a short drive, or take a $5 uber to historic west asheville. Our eclectic neighborhood will make you fall in live with Asheville at first site. We look forward to hosting you!
  • Let me start off by saying I have been using Airbnb for years and had NEVER had an issue. My boyfriend and I ended up getting in very late. When we arrived we were very disappointed, the shower and around the shower were very dirty (did not look like it had been cleaned) and the bed sheets had multiple different human and dog hairs on them. The towels also had dirty spots on them and did not look they had been cleaned. Seeing so many hairs on our sheets and pillows was very gross. We used our shirts as pillow cases that night. Totally understand that there may be some hair around the place as it is dog friendly but, we were very surprised to see it on the bed sheets, pillow cases, along with the dirty towels and the apartment as a whole not appearing to have even been vacuumed. I went to look for a hotel the next morning. We were not able to stay in this place secondary to the lack cleanliness. With this unfortunate experience, I will say the location is accurate and convenient to down town. This experience was very upsetting :(.

    Danielle2018-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Cute cozy little downtown apartment. Great for exploring Asheville! We were literally minutes from everything, which was great but also it did get a bit loud at night. It may have been a one off thing as it was during Pride weekend though. Thanks Jonathan!

    Heather2018-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • To echo what others have said, this is the perfect spot if you're looking to be close to downtown. The place is cozy and has the essentials - perfect for a weekend stay. Parking was a breeze and Jonathan was quick to respond to any questions we had. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again during our next Asheville trip!

    James2018-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • Great central location, quickly walkable to all the fun downtown spots! Perfect charming and hip weekend getaway spot! The keurig with coffee pods ready to go was amazing!

  • Jonathan was great. I accidentally tripped the power in the bathroom by blow drying my hair and he had it fixed within the hour. The apartment is simple and clean. Great location. Perfect if you’re in Asheville to explore and check out breweries.

    Caitlin2019-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • This location is so convenient to all of downtown Asheville - and the host was friendly and accommodating - he gave us great recommendations and made sure we got settled in quickly. Also - this is truly a pet friendly place and our dog was right at home with all the other visiting dogs. We were so grateful to find this when we needed to evacuate - and will certainly stay again when we visit Asheville in the future.

  • I would suggest making sure all amenities are functioning properly. The space is convenient to walk downtown, but after midnight the adjacent night club can be noisy. We were only able to stay one of our two nights, due to non functional air-conditioning and bathroom Lighting

This one bedroom, one bath studio is located in the back of my beautifully restored 1920s bungalow in downtown Asheville.
The studio apartment, located in the back part of my house, is decorated with a mix of modern and vintage furniture. Some have been in my life for a long time, some brand new to the space, and art made by me hangs on the walls. There's a small kitchenette with table and chairs, a bedroom with exposed brick from an old cooks stove and a living area with a futon-style couch. The full bath has a claw foot tub/shower that has a custom copper curtain rod and antique heirloom vanity. This is a perfect retreat for two people.
The beauty of the house not only lies in all of its charm, but also in it's location! There's a unique Whole Foods, called Greenlife, right across the street and Trader Joes is a couple blocks up from that. If you fancy yoga, Asheville Yoga Center is about three blocks away, on Liberty Street. In the other direction, a lovely greenway runs along Reeds Creek, or you can simply stroll around the eclectic neighborhood. Historic Montford, one the oldest neighborhoods (and in my humble opinion, the most beautiful), is a block away and the architecture is truly inspiring. My favorite coffee shop sits at the bottom of the street, called High Five Cafe. Don't let the hip tattooed baristas intimidate you- the coffee is delicious! Most importantly, all of downtown is just a 5-10 minute walk, complete with shopping, museums, restaurants, breweries, bars and music venues.
  • Christal's house was the perfect, cozy retreat! Great location in downtown Asheville makes it easy to explore. Quiet, charming, clean and relaxing.

    Jennifer2017-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first time using Air b&b and I could not have asked for a better experience! Christal was not only a wonderful host but her place was beautiful and greatly relaxing (the bed was super comfortable). A last minute change had forced me to travel alone - Christal was quick with personal suggestions on things to do alone in the area. She was sweet to provide toiletries, kitchen necessities and my favorite - coffee (the flavor was so enjoyable that I went to whole foods to purchase some for home)! Having whole foods within walking distance was a great feature, it allowed my stay to feel even more like home. Even though the place shared a wall with her and her dogs, little noise was heard throughout the stay. If traveling to Asheville again, I would definitely stay with Christal again!

    Amanda2016-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • I absolutely loved Christal's place. It was eclectic, cozy, and charming. I felt at home as soon as I walked through the door. The location can't be beat - just a short walk into the downtown area. Christal was an excellent host and I'd definitely recommend her place.

    Meagan2017-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • We were in Asheville for a week and absolutely loved staying at Christals place! Stylishly decorated with lots of cute touches that made us feel at home right away. Little deck overlooking the backyard was nice. Can’t say enough great things about the location - walk to grocery stores and all the happening spots downtown, little further to the south slope brewing district, but still definitely within the walking radius. I would give it 6 stars if I could.

    Morgan2019-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • Unfortunately, we were unable to make the trip due to a winter storm causing NC to be declared in a "State of Emergency". However, my experience from start to finish with Christal was 100% positive. Christal was extremely responsive to all of my inquiries and completely understanding throughout. I look forward to staying at her place in the future! I love her shabby chic place!!!

    Raven2016-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Loved it! Christals place had everything we needed for our Halloween trip to Asheville . It is a cozy and cute space thats walking distance to downtown .

    Leman2016-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, quaint, comfortable, with lots of thoughtful touches throughout the space. Check-in was a breeze, and it was walkable to a lot of things. We would definitely recommend!

    Katie2019-03-31T00:00:00Z
  • This home is cute, cozy, and clean. My first thought was: I could live here! The bed and linens were super soft. There were lots of lighting options (some lamps for low, soft light), places to hang and put away clothes, extra blankets, and other nice details. I love that there was a sound machine in the bedroom available to drown out any noise. I used it even though it was super quiet.

This is it - a rare downtown Asheville condo with a dedicated parking spot! (No more driving around in circles, paying exorbitant parking rates or feeding parking meters!). Since we are located downtown, that means you can easily walk to all your favorite AVL restaurants, shops and breweries. Our condo gives you quick and easy access to the Blue Ridge Parkway, Biltmore Estate, and other nearby Asheville attractions.
Featuring bamboo floors, granite countertops, natural light, fully furnished modern decor, a full kitchen (complete with coffee maker, blender and toaster oven), new bedroom and bathroom linens, TWO brand new flat-screen TVs, a DVD player, and an in-unit washer/dryer, experience your private living space near the Western Carolina mountains. The futon converts into a full-sized bed for additional guests. Relax, and enjoy yourself in your own little sanctuary with all the comforts of home. We hope you enjoy your stay with us and enjoy Asheville!
We are steps away from the Civic Center and right off of I-240. We're located at the outer edge of downtown Asheville - close enough to be in the heart of it all, but far enough from the hustle and bustle of the city.

  • A wonderful house! This was a great spot for a weekend getaway. We were able to walk to everything we wanted to see. The house was in great condition and has a nice style to it.

  • We enjoyed our stay at Danielle’s! If the weather had been better we could’ve easily walked downtown. No safety issues, clean, good location.

    Catherine2018-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Great location on quiet residential street walking distance from downtown points of interest. Clean and private place to stay with hassle free check in and check out.

    Jordan2018-05-23T00:00:00Z
  • We travel to Asheville every year. It's a beautiful midpoint on our vacation travel.Danielle's property is a beautiful place to stay for two couples or a family of 4. Everything we needed was there for us. We were within walking distance (~15 minutes) from downtown Asheville's restaurants and shopping. We highly recommend staying here!

    Brian2018-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • Super cozy home with a nice front porch swing. Clean and cute with a great proximity to downtown activities!

    Emily2017-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • The house is a beautiful older home in a great location and it was very clean. Danielle was easy to be in contact with. I do have to share what happened on our last morning staying there, just because it was a scary experience and I think it is probably a fluke. We woke up to gun shots and people speaking in the driveway. There had been a shooting right on the street. We weren't sure what to do, and by the time we discussed it cops were on the scene. We were safe and mostly felt safe, but the initial idea of gunshots going off right by the home was jarring. I told Danielle what happened and she, like us, was shocked. She even refunded that nights stay. I highly doubt this would ever happen again, but Asheville is a changing growing city and it's something to consider. Scary things can happen anywhere and we really appreciated the gesture of a refund and Danielle's quick responses. Otherwise no complaints, we just felt we needed to be honest about our experience at this airbnb.

The location was excellent, right in the middle of downtown Asheville. We walked everywhere from this location. Amenities included washer, dryer, dishwasher, central heating /cooling, Internet, cable TV, and a gas fireplace. We would stay here again.

  • We really enjoyed staying at Mellissa's apartment. It is lovely, chic, and in a perfect location. Although I didn't meet her in person, Mellissa left clear instructions for everything, and she even messaged me to see that we arrived without problems. It was a great experience. Thanks!!

    Kendall2015-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • Mellissa was a great host, answering every question I had and making me feel very welcome. The apartment is beautiful and in a great location. Fully equipped with everything you need for your stay. I will be staying here again in the very near future.

  • My wife and I absolutely loved staying in this condo. This was our first time ever using AirBNB and we were a little nervous at first. But from the moment we booked, Mellissa was more than helpful and accommodating. The space itself was amazing. It's a perfect in-town condo with comfortable and attractive amenities. The location was our favorite part about the condo. Countless restaurants, shops, and bars/breweries were within a few blocks. Next time we visit Asheville, we will definitely be staying here again.

    Luke2016-04-11T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I loved this place! It's spacious and funky and right in the center of everything going on in downtown Asheville. We love the way the unit is decorated, it is very spacious and exceptionally clean. Melissa was fabulous in answering any questions we needed help with and always responded quickly. We highly recommend staying here… And we will look to stay here again the next time we are in Asheville.

    Linda2016-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • We could not have been more impressed with this space and our wonderful host, Mellissa. From her prompt communication to her emergency rescue when we accidentally locked the keys in the flat she was amazing. Speaking of the flat, pictures cannot do it justice. And the location? As downtown as you can get. Thanks again, Mellissa!

    Kevin2015-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • As many people have mentioned, it can be loud, but you’re in the center of downtown Asheville so that’s expected- what happens is, the place is basically above one of the only late night food spots in town so people flock there after most restaurants close. Chit chat and music can clearly be heard from the apt but it’s not too bad. Some people might even find that to be a plus! The construction noise at 7:30am not so much. Womp womp. They do have a white noise machine, which I thought was a nice touch to help with the noise. The place is spacious and the location couldn’t be better if you want to explore downtown which is very small and you can walk everywhere from the apt. There is a huge flight of stairs leading up to the apt. So carrying luggage, stroller and a baby up and down wasn’t the best time. There’s a garage across the street that you pay $10 per day to leave your car which is convenient but also... again, luggage, stroller, baby... I think this place is great for couples or friends traveling without kids, it’s really just not the most kid friendly place, with multiple levels and sharp corners lol. But that’s on us. Communication with host was excellent.

  • You can't find a better location in Downtown Asheville! Park your car and walk everywhere. The loft is comfortable and bright and sunny with beautiful views of streercapes and mountains. We celebrated our 21st wedding anniversary here and we made beautiful memories that we will never forget. Fine dining and great music is just a few steps away. We will definitely stay here again.

  • Beautiful apartment in great location. Unfortunately there is a popular bar with live music below. The bass resonates until 1 or 2 am. There is a noise machine to help mitigate this.

  • The Grey Rock Inn was amazing! It's so close to everything to do in Dowtown Asheville, and the room was perfect for what I needed. I spent most of my time our exploring the city, so the cozy room was the perfect way to end a fun day.

    Rachel2016-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great stay. The location can't be beat for exploring the south slope brewery scene and the surrounding mountains/forests. As advertised, this is a great basic room for a single traveler who would rather spend their time outdoors rather than indoors. Thanks to other review posts, I used the overnight parking at the Aloft as this was easier than trying to find a spot on the street during the busy weekend. I would stay here again if I returned as a single adventurer.

    Casey2017-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • The location is very convenient to downtown Asheville! If you're interested in exploring the downtown areas... this is a great place to stay with a Coop food market right next door!

    Dana2019-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Great little place for an unbeatable deal! So glad I stayed at the Gray Rock! Easy check-in, seamless communication. Better than advertised!

  • Bare bones, clean, location is perfect right off downtown.

    Ian2015-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • The room was just as described, small but adequate space, very clean, fantastic location (my favorite aspect), and several unexpected but nice touches like a mini fridge in the room and some dishes and sink right in the room as well. It is right across from the Orange Peel, which I loved, but it did get a little noisy when the show let out one night. However, John even provided ear plugs which was very thoughtful (though I didn’t feel the need to use them. I am a deep sleeper!) would definitely stay here again if I was visiting Asheville solo.

    Penelope2018-04-24T00:00:00Z

  • Perfect location. There were shows at the Orange Peel across the street but it wasnt that loud. I didn't see anyone else my whole stay so it felt very private. Very clean. My only complaint was there wasn't any toilet paper the first day (they got it for me soon after).

I was in town for the annual Asheville Comedy Festival and was able to walk to all of the venues and related events within minutes. The room was small, but clean with everything I needed for a comfortable stay. Can't beat it for the price. Will definitely be back. Highly recommended!

  • I had a great stay in this airbnb! The employees were very friendly and helpful. It was really at the city centre and it was easy to go everywhere by foot. I especially liked the view from the window and that my room was very well equipped with even a knife for fruits and soap for cleaning the dishes.

If history repeats itself, then may it always be a replay of Asheville’s Gilded Age. If walls could talk, then a centenarian newsroom would have some spectacular stories to tell. And if location is everything, then The Asheville Times Building @ 120 College Street is the epicenter of all things Asheville. Welcome to the intersection of past & present, to stories of the Gilded Age, and to the ideal home base for Asheville vacations. Welcome to The Daily Condo 201 @ the Asheville Times Building.
Historic Building, Iconic Views! Heart of Downtown w/ Private Outdoor Space Once home to the Asheville Times, the local afternoon newspaper and now the city’s most antique-chic address, this is IT: a 1-bedroom, 1-bath, 500 square-foot condo that breathes Asheville history, embodies the Gilded Age spirit, and incorporates all the modern amenities of the 21st century. HIGHLIGHTS (many more details, below) ------------------ •• Stay in the Shadow of the Gilded Age •• → Asheville, built post-Industrial boom and riding so high it was almost Depression-proof, is unique among Southern cities. So, why would you stay anywhere but in the historic center? Located in the Asheville Times Building @ 120 College Street, The Daily Condo 201 represents the heart of iconic Asheville: in the shadow the Jackson Building (check out that view!), at the start of the Urban Trail arts & history tour, and with easy access to the city’s exceptional dining, nightlife, and culture. Walk Score: 86 – “Very Walkable”! •• Historic yet Contemporary Design•• → From soaring ceilings to original hardwoods, from antique doorknobs to one-of-a-kind artwork, from leather seating to century-old balustrades, the Asheville Times Building preserves the old while incorporating all the must-have new. •• Private Outdoor space •• → Outdoor space may be hard to come by in downtown, but not at The Daily @ 120 College Street! Step out onto your own 160 square-foot, private brick-walled terrace: enjoy a meal (or just a drink) at the bistro table (seats 2), check out the western views over N. Market, and drink in that sunset. •• Walk in the Footsteps of ASHEVILLE’S EARLIEST NEWS REPORTERS •• → There’s nothing more Asheville than living, breathing history. The paper – which changed ownership and names from The Asheville Daily Gazette, to The Gazette-News, to The Times, to The Asheville Times – witnessed the Golden Age of William Sydney Porter (pen name: O. Henry), Thomas Wolfe, and F. Scott Fitzgerald, among other Asheville art royalty. Indeed, 120 College Street is THE creatively prestigious address in Asheville. •• Modern Amenities •• → From a 43” Smart TV’s wall-mounted in both the living room and BR, to streaming entertainment, dimmer lights to a street intercom system, blackout shades to keyless entry, portable speaker, and stainless steel appliances, The Daily Condo 201 in the Asheville Times Building at 120 College Street has all the modern comforts you crave. •• Fast WiFi •• → Go on, upload that Asheville selfie! With fast WiFi, you’re as connected as you want to be. •• Easy Parking •• → You don’t need a car at 120 College Street but if you bring one, you’ll be happy to know that parking is easy to find, in lots, parking decks, and on street. •• Locally Managed •• → Don’t underestimate the value of having an Asheville local in your back pocket! From filling you in on secret, no-signage bars, to being on-call 24/7 to help in a late-night emergency, to remote-rebooting the WiFi at a moment’s notice, our 100% local service delivers both a great experience and peace of mind. •• Perfect for Groups •• → Traveling with other families or as a group? Good news! We manage three one- and two-bedroom properties at 120 College Street, to accommodate a total of 8 guests. ☀☀☀ Antique-Chic DESIGN ☀☀☀ The Daily Condo 201 at 120 College Street is a special place. It’s probably not like anything you have at home, but it is exactly the historic-yet-contemporary feel you seek in Asheville. It is historic. It is completely renovated. It is period-perfect. It is home. Or, a home-away-from-home, at least. Each of the three properties, The Gazette Condo 200, The Daily Condo 201 and The News Condo 202 the Asheville Times Building at 120 College Street rises to 10-foot ceilings and blends select antiques with new pieces, modern furnishings with neutral tones, sleek lines with strategic pops of ebullient color. Architectural walls dull sound, the kitchen is fully stocked, the closets are custom, and the bathrooms are completely renovated. You’ll sleep like a baby, thanks to custom drapes and blackout shades. This is where modern meets old world, and it couldn’t be any more Asheville. It’s the perfect complement to your historic downtown experience, complete with a 160 square-foot outdoor terrace and bistro table seating for two. The Asheville Times Building @ 120 College Street was originally built in 1914 for the Asheville Gazette-News; (later, the Asheville Times), occupied 120 College Street until the 1930’s. Fun fact: In 1929, Thomas Wolfe would forever immortalize this time in his highly autobiographical first novel “Look Homeward, Angel,” a coming-of-age story that mirrored his life in Asheville and experiences at his mother’s famous boardinghouse, Dixieland, "the most famous boardinghouse in American fiction.” Just two blocks north on Market Street is the restored Thomas Wolfe Memorial State Historic Site and welcomes visitors Tuesday-Saturday. ----------------------------------
☀☀☀ Welcome ☀☀☀ Welcome to the Asheville Times Building @ 120 College Street, the historic and cultural center of downtown Asheville and former home to The Asheville Times. Welcome to a historic building that still unfolds over original hardwood floors, five-panel doors, antique doorknobs, banisters, and railings. Welcome to a home-away-from home located above the Black Mountain College Museum and Art Center and with its own private terrace. A downtown condo, just footsteps to fine restaurants and trendy nightlife, art galleries and antique shops. Yes, it’s safe to say – this is it. You’ve found it. Over 500 square-feet of historic space, The Daily Condo 201 offers a blend of antique and contemporary furnishings, neutral tones and bright pops of green and yellow, solid woods and airy windows, architectural touches and high design. ☀☀☀ LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! The Asheville Times Building @ 120 College Street is your no-compromise-required destination: at the intersection of past and present, in the shadow of the Jackson Building and overlooking Pack Square Park, and enveloped by the energy and charm of downtown life. The Daily Condo 201 embodies and embraces the Asheville scene – a scene that draws designers and artists, creatives and music lovers, foodies and artisanal beverage aficionados alike. History: From the 120 College Street, you’re just minutes to many of Asheville’s historic landmarks, including the Vance Memorial, Monument Corner, the Thomas Wolfe Memorial, and Asheville’s historic Flatiron Building, not to mention numerous statues, plaques, and monuments that commemorate the city’s past. The renowned Blue Spiral 1 Gallery and Momentum Gallery are a couple of blocks away and the Black Mountain College Museum + Art Center is right downstairs. Festivals: From Downtown After Five (once a month, in summer) and the Lexington Avenue Arts Fest, to Drum Circle and Art in the Park, downtown Asheville and the River Arts District are ripe with arts, culture, and creative pursuits. ----------------------------------
  • Cute and cozy place right in the heart of Asheville! Walking distance to all the great restaurants and breweries. This place was super clean and cozy. We will definitely stay here again when we come back to Asheville.

  • My husband and I came to Asheville for a 3 day weekend and it was both of our first time visiting. The location is great, walking distance to tons of restaurants, shops and cafes. The apartment was extremely clean, and tons of thoughtful amenities like a bottle of wine, coffee, and makeup wipes! The bed and pillows were comfortable and the space was perfect size for us two and the balcony is great to get some fresh air and have a cup of coffee. I highly recommend this stay!

    Alexa2019-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Great location...walking distance from everything downtown. It was a little noisy at night with the fire department and bars nearby, but ear plugs were provided!

    Erin2019-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice, clean and convenient condo downtown. Nearby restaurants/tavern and dueling pianos were less than a block away. It took less than 10 mins to walk to the “main area” of shops and restaurants/bars. We would definitely stay here again.

    Brad2019-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Apartment was comfortable, clean and nicely decorated. Loved the outdoor seating area. Best of all, it was within easy walking distance of all downtown restaurants and shopping. Location was unbeatable!

    Evangeline2019-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is lovely and they have thought of everything: nightstands, lights and outlets on both sides of the bed, hangers, drawers; plus coffee and wine! Everything is modern and comfortable, and the keyless entry is great. It's an urban location, so expect some urban noise. We enjoyed our stay!

    Mindy2019-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • Great little condo in a great location- walk to everything! We really enjoyed our weekend at Karen’s!

If you want an in-town experience, this is it! Perfectly situated near downtown in a quiet neighborhood, you can enjoy both the upbeat energy of downtown day and nightlife while retreating to a cozy eclectic room with en suite bath when you need a break. The shabby chic decor along with original artwork provide a truly unique space. Lots of comforting extras have been curated with your comfort and enjoyment in mind. Snack preparation area to enjoy artisan coffee and organic teas. Located in a guest wing with separate entrance, you will have privacy. Smoking permitted only outside.
Comfortable bedroom with newly updated ensuite bath (with shower) in a separate guest wing. Inviting decor to enjoy. When I was creating this guest room the most important things for me were: fresh and clean, nice ambiance (decor), firm cozy bed, with quality linens, nice hot shower with good pressure and quality towels, and an area you can make a snack and tea/coffee. You have a semi-private entrance (I use the back entrance to let my pets out during the day) , so if you are out and about late, no worries. There is a true feeling of privacy in the back wing of the house. Green backyard with tables, chairs to relax - smokers welcome outside. 3 Blocks to downtown where you can enjoy shops, cafes, breweries, clubs and much more. Asheville Yoga is about 7 blocks and Whole Foods, Trader Joes about 3 blocks. Montford is really the best place to stay if you want to be close to town. Your safety is important to me - Locks on guest doors, fire extinguishers, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, safety card, motion sensor lights by entrances, and off street parking etc.. My driveway can accommodate 2 medium size SUV. If you have a very large SUV or truck you may have to park on street (where my car is). I also have another space in the same location: Boutique Room, that is beautiful too!: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/16733596 I have tried to think of all the necessities, lots of conveniences, and many luxurious extras. I want you to feel at home and pampered. Most of the beautiful photos were taken by an Airbnb photographer with a wide angle lens that does distort the room size. If there is something I missed, I am open to suggestions and requests.
Historic Montford is full of beautiful Victorian homes, tree-lined streets, and fabulous gardens. It's a great place to take a walk. The house is very close to downtown, 3 blocks from the Civic Center, shops, and cafes. Asheville Home Stay Permit 15 dash 15307
  • This was our first trip to Asheville N.C. and first time using AirBnB. I went soley on other people's review. Lizzy's place got glowing reviews. I can see why. The location is simply ideal. You really can't ask for a closer walk to downtown, yet the home is so quiet. Lizzy made our vacation perfect. After finding out we are vegan, she went and got us coconut milk for our granola, what a kind & thoughtful host. Very clean and comfortable room. Loved the separate entrance and driveway for our car. You can't go wrong staying here!

    Sherri2017-06-12T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely, bohemian historic neighborhood and home. And, such a wonderfully comfortable bed with lots of perfect pillows! Everything was as expected, even nicer. What made it even more special: Lizzy is a most gracious, gracious host. I would certainly return!

    Mark Gregory2017-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • Lizzy's place was cute and clean. The bathroom was super nice and she had hot tea, coffee, water and a small fridge available to use and even offered yogurt and granola for breakfast. The location was great - a short walk to downtown with parking in the driveway or on the street. We loved our stay!

    Annette2017-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Lizzy over delivers when it comes to all the little things (coffee, tea, granola, fruit, TV for use with your Netflix account, etc). Location is great. Space is great and clean. Bathroom is amazing. My best Airbnb experience!

    Kevin2019-04-27T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was perfect.

    Jodi2017-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • Lizzy is a gracious, welcoming but not intrusive host.

    Rick2015-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you Lizzy, after our long travel time and drive it was amazing to feel welcomed with a very quaint room where you had thought of everything. We simply cleaned up and crawled into the comfiest bed ever on that first night and slept like angels! Couldn't have asked for anything more. We were out most of the time seeing friends and walking around your beautiful downtown so having a driveway to park a car and come and go out the back was easy too.

    Duncan2016-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • Lizzy's space is charming and romantic. For us Chicago city slickers, it felt like a little cabin. We never got to see the rest of the house but we never needed to, our private little room was perfect on it's own. In addition, all our favorite spots were walking distance from Lizzy's. We couldn't ask for a better place to stay. We'll be visiting Asheville again just to stay at Lizzy's. -Alec+Nicky-

  • We had a great stay at John's AirBNB. It is right across from The Orange Peel and perfect if you want to see a concert and not have to catch a cab. Great restaurants nearby and walking distance to everything downtown.

  • JC was a great host! He made us feel welcome and spent time giving us some great recommendations for our short stay in Asheville. The room was very spacious, comfortable and exactly as pictured. Parking was a plus! The area we were located in could not have been better. We were within walking distance to many of the awesome breweries and restaurants which made it easy to get where we needed to go. We had a great time exploring our surroundings and being in downtown Asheville made that possible!

    Tara2016-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for 3 days at the Grey Rock Inn and had a wonderful time. The room was spacious with a large comfy bed and we also had a sink in the room which was a nice addition. There are shared bathrooms and microwave ovens on every floor so we never ran into any inconveniences. All the residents were very friendly and easy to hang out with if you want to just sit and relax for a minute -- both porches are great for enjoying the night air and people-watching. It's next door to the French Broad Food Co-op so running next door for some food was a nice (and frugal) option for us. It's also a few blocks away from many kinds of restaurants and Pack Square so if you want to eat out every meal that's an easy thing to do too. We will definitely be back! Highly recommended!

  • We had a wonderful stay. John greeted us at the door, showed us around, gave us some tips on where to go and how to get around the city. He was available by text to answer any questions during our stay, and was very non-intrusive. The room was exactly as pictured. The whole place was very clean. The location was perfect. Walking distance to everything we wanted to see. I would definitely recommend this place and we would absolutely stay here again.

    Alexis2016-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Location was fantastic!! John's son was very friendly and quick to give us our keys and check-in was easy. Everyone we ran into in the hallways was friendly and the bathrooms and room was nice and clean. Only complaint was that the hallway often smelled like smoke from people smoking on the front porch.

We prepared our breakfast there each morning (oatmeal in the microwave), and ate out other meals in town. It is an excellent location for walking everywhere and was a very pleasant stay overall. John was very quick to reply when we were booking the reservation, and checked in on us via messages during our stay. We loved Asheville and this place was definitely a big contributor to our positive experience.
