Palatka is a rugged small town with areas of distress and ranks poorly in terms of economic opportunities. It has been identified as one of the poorest counties in the state of Florida. The "meow" call of the local peacocks is heard throughout the neighborhood.... with a few sometimes roosting in the trees in the yard.
