Fabulous round house on the west coast of Scotland

The DRUM at Dunmore is a stunning elliptical house with a sloping roof and high ceilings, clad in charred larch with orange window frames and painted wooden floors. Designed by architect Roderick James and built by a crack team of smashing local chaps, the Drum is a perfect bolt hole for two. It has a wood burning stove and a big squashy velvet sofa, floor to ceiling triple glazed windows and is nestled in woodland on a small estate (complete with castle) and just moments from the sea.

The Black House, Islay

The Black House is a unique property situated between Bruichladdich and Port Charlotte on the island of Islay. We use the house for High School to save commuting from Jura every day so don’t expect a pristine holiday let but rather a loved family space. There are 2 double beds and 2 bunk bedrooms (if you’re a party of single adults then 4 is the maximum number). Views are stunning and Islay’s great for whisky, wildlife or just rest and relaxation. Just a 10 minute drive from Campbeltown and 1 mile away from Westport beach (famous for its fantastic surfing), the area is known for its traditional whisky distilleries, outstanding scenery and the classic song "Mull of Kintyre". The lodge is also ideal for a golfing getaway, with 5 courses nearby and Machrihanish being known for having the best opening hole in the world.

Portbahn House, near Bruichladdich Distillery

Portbahn was our family home before moving to Jura, and we hope you'll find it as welcoming as we did. This modern waterfront house sits right on Islay's scenic coastal route with stunning loch views. Sleeps 8 across 3 ground-floor bedrooms—perfect for families. Large enclosed garden with trampoline and swings. Walk to Bruichladdich Distillery (10 mins), beaches, and coastal paths. Underfloor heating and wood-burner make it cosy year-round. Dogs welcome. Your island home awaits!

The Wee House

The Wee House is a one bedroom seafront cottage looking onto Port Ellen. Sleeping up to 4 guests with a sofa bed (full size double) in the living room. Listing price is for 2 guests sharing the bedroom. If the sofa bed is required for bookings of 2 guests please let us know as there is an extra charge (£10 per night). The cottage is within walking distance of local shops, pubs and restaurants and near to the distillery path taking you to Laphroaig, Lagavulin and Ardbeg.

Ploughmans Cottage is located in the Village of Furnace, 7 miles from Inveraray, in Argyll. The cottage was built around 1890 to house the Ploughman for Goatfield Farm, and has been extensively remodelled to create a unique getaway. Offering a large double bedroom, lounge and open plan kitchen diner, and stunning bathroom with Victorian roll top bath. The views across Loch Fyne from the private terrace are stunning. The Steading @braighbhaille

A beautiful one-bedroom private traditional stone cottage, The Steading is a self-contained cottage just across the courtyard from our main house. It benefits from a lovely setting amongst the Scottish countryside with glorious views across Loch Fyne, and has many unique features. There is ample private parking directly outside the cottage (spaces for two cars with extra parking if required) and you are free to enjoy the fields and open spaces around you.

Persabus is the gateway to the north Islay distilleries. Based within walking distance of Ardnahoe Distillery, Caol ila Distillery ad Bunnahabhain Distillery. It is also close to the bus stop where you can get a bus to the south Islay distilleries of Ardbeg, Lagavullin and Laphroaig. The Millhouse is a traditional farm steading converted into a comfortable cottage situated on a working hill farm, offering self catering or bed and breakfast accommodation
