Within easy walking distance are eateries, wine and beer bars, The School I Jack Shainman Gallery, historic sites, the farmers' market plus farm stands, and quiet, scenic roads perfect for walking and cycling.

The Writer's Cottage

The Writer's Cottage is a tiny white house on a country road; vintage, complete, and inspiring. Built in the nineteenth century, it's perfect for a solo traveler or a pair of travelers exploring the Berkshires and the Hudson Valley. If you like rustic buildings, you'll be a fan of the cottage; it's an incredibly cozy time warp. Queen bed and living quarters downstairs; airy loft up a narrow set of enclosed stairs. There's an orchard and lawn with grill, hammock and ironwork table.

Our private cottage is set on a peninsula at a cove where a trout stream enters the lake. There is an incredible amount of wildlife, especially all types of birds. Sunny views abound. The house boasts a bright wood interior with a cozy feel. It has two and a half baths. There is a first floor queen bedroom with cathedral ceiling, and on the 2nd floor another queen room and a twin room-2 single beds.The adjacent lake teams with wildlife, seasonal weeds do grow. Living room has a drop down movie screen, brand-new sofa with chaise and pull out queen sized bed. Galley kitchen is new with a Smeg stove and oven, dishwasher. Bedroom has a queen size adjustable bed, 52 inch TV with wifi and cable. The bathroom has a soaking tub and a walk in shower a vanity with double sinks. Cabin 9 has expansive views of the Erie Canal/Mohawk River, fully stocked kitchen with granite, huge front porch with table, gas grill and relaxing chairs PLUS a screened in back porch for relaxing with a woods view.
